Such a disappointing end to a disappointing season. 3 years in charge and we’ve been consistently inconsistent. Every year under Voss we’ve won games in an insane patch but then fallen away. 2023 was just in reverse. We are a momentum team not a system team and that’s why we’ve never finished top 4 and never been a proper contender like we should be. Voss is exactly like Hinkley. Excels in building relationships and leadership (intangible qualities), but anything related to tactical and strategical acumen they are nothing short of a liability. But you’ll still get people like Cornes who’ll defend them like crazy because of the port connection.

Our injuries have also been well overblown by our fans and media. We were top 2 for 3/4 of the years. The injuries only boiled over in the hawks game which was over before HT. Our last 3 wins came against tigers, north and eagles. But the lack of accountability from the top and the continuous excuses and victim mentality from our fanbase is why we are where we are. You get Sam Mitchell before the dogs game saying that they won’t be celebrating the season unless they win the flag, yet our fans and club were all patting each other on the back after we scraped into 8th because of another team. That is the sort of mentality which has plagued the club and killed the standards that we once had when we were a powerhouse long, long ago
