simple, but wonderfull and full of feeling. Its amazing to listening shreding solos too, but, sometimes I prefer sounds like this one you play in this video, because the soul has more space to take easy and delight

I didn't start learning the Hendrix double stops till like 20 years into my playing and I gotta say it really opened up a whole new world for me.

I love how you explain this so it gives the viewer inspiration to create out own licks and how to transfer to another chord shape and pentatonic scale.

Jfc how come I've never seen this? I've known about double stops for a hot minute, but no one ever explained I was only supposed to hammer on only ONE string. 😤 I've been slapping the length of my finger trying to hammer on both strings at once and wondering why it sounded like shit when I tried to play using double stops 🤬

The color of the lampshade matches the color of his guitar! How does he đó it?😮

Wrong ! What they're showing you are parallel 4th, 5th & 3rds. In classical terms it's called Parallel Motion. Double stops are slang for 16th notes played on two different notes. D,D,E,E,D,DE,E. Universal Love Lenny White (1975) guitar intro 2) John Tropea - Muff Gary Hoey - Hocus Pocus are examples double stops.

Whenever people give fret numbers it makes me bonkers - I can see the dots on your neck. What isn't visible is the scale degree. That's the number I actually need/want to know.

That major pentatonic hammer and pulling off the suspention tones of the scale reminds me of piano playing of the rolling stones as well...i forget the name of the plaer but he must have been influenced by hendrix too

I’m still a beginner, but have recently got my head around chords in a key, then playing a scale for that key over the chord progression. But I guess underlying this video is shifting the scale based on what chord is being played at a given time? I imagine that makes it more musical and melodic

18 seconds!!! That’s all it took to make me stop, think and stop contemplating even thinking about playing like this! Tomorrow though, is another day!

7 months later: moderate success!!!

I know it's besides the lesson, but my guitar lust here... is that a fiesta red that has aged orangy, or is that an orange refin? And yeah, that dark rosewood slab is tasty too :-0

This was so helpful Paul. I have been doing double stops just because it felt and sounded right but when you break it down, it makes whole lot of sense and now I play with purpose.

I need Help! I paid for the "acoustic adventure" lessons ($199) but I guess I never set up a login: It is impossible to contact Paul Davids company or access the program. I have searched the internet, but there is no way to contact anyone to help me set up a login. clicking the "forgot" password" because I never set up an account. I am posting here, as a last resort!

Your remark on playing, "a little sloppy" is preeminent for understanding Hendrix. You hit the up code.

Brilliantly explained for 4 different chord shapes (maj- minor), all in a simple video. Great sum up of double stops, the way Jimi used them.
