i forget how fucking brillaint this film is. jodies abillity to show such tension and fear as she enters his house is of the charts. she gave a acting master class in this. she makes ur own fear rise right up to how it would feel in that situation.

I remember the fist time seeing this in a theater and my date and EVERY woman was screaming when Buffalo Bill's hands wavered over Clarice in his night-vision goggkes

Never really noticed the spinning thing (forget what that is called) with the two butterflies 🦋. When it spins one of them is gone. Was it to symbolize that one was defeated and the remaining one is Clarice, Who herself can be a symbolic butterfly as the rest of the FBI is seeing what she is capable of.

its funny how sunlight was passing through the blinds in the bathtub room and then it got pitch black...lol

Since Buffalo Bill had a sweet bischon fritz named precious and he loved her to the core, I can't say in good conscience that he is a bad guy, just a crazy man that went to far.

Buffalo Bill is a much more realistic and believable serial killer character than Lecter. He’s socially awkward, reclusive, and doesn’t give any explanation for why he does what he does. He doesn’t talk, he acts on his instincts like apex predator. That’s what makes him so terrifying. Hopkins did good, but was overrated

i like how Bill sort of looks like a moth when he's dead, the NV goggles represent bug eyes, and the rug on the floor (not sure what material its made from, denim?) spread out behind him looks like wings, his final transformation...

This is what a real heroine is not those dumb CGI deluged superhero nonsense

The movie at this point was great, then it became a classic. Jodie Foster is simply phenomenal

In the book after she shoots him he asks, “What’s it like to be beautiful?” 😬

He had every chance he could to easily kill her, being that he had the night vision goggles. But he chose to toy with her, and the minute he prepared to kill her, and Clarice heard the gun click right behind her, he was done for. That's always the villains mistake. Either taking too long monologuing, or toying with their victim.

I always loved the creepy detail of how Buffalo is obsessed with butterflies and moths, and is constantly portrayed with insect imagery - and then when he gets shot, his arms are outstretched and his hands are curled up stiffly, like a bug does when it dies.

I love that for once, the police actually WINS in a horror movie! Clarice was a real hero! 👏

Look how long that archaic piece of junk took to reload. I can't believe they kept revolvers around at all after the M1911 was invented. It made them pointless.

This is one of the most tense scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie. It’s so clever and scary because while it isn’t a full-on chase, I would definitely say it is one.

The second Clarice stepped inside that house, she was stepping into Buffalo Bill's mind. Into his world.

Great scene..only slight problem is that NVGs don’t work in complete darkness. You have to have some level of light for them to function.

What a dumb decision by Buffalo Bill to cock his gun. Colt Python is a double action revolver, could have fired without it being cocked back.

The way Ted Levine played Bill was perfect, down to this very scene where he lies there like Clarice has just killed a spider, his fingers all curled up grasping for life that is rapidly departing his body.

Jodie’s hair color and style changed by the end of the movie. I didn’t care for it at the end.

Back when the FBI actually did somewhat heroic things.

Jodie foster nailed this role. Clarice was tough and smart. She was clearly terrified in this scene but she still won in the end, because she knew it would either be her or Buffalo Bill. It was like a weight off my chest when he finally got what he deserved

One of the five top best horror/suspense movies of all time… and the scene could easy stop your heart.

BB pulled the hammer back on that revolver while pointing straight at her head with NVGs on and Clarice still did a 180° turn to unload her pistol on him in pitch darkness before he could get a single shot off. 😒

So realistic and then they had to ruin it by having him just stare at her and allow himself to be killed. Would have been so much better if he shot her once or twice and then died in the exchange.
