I can't get behind female rap. The lyrics are all about p*ssy popping and sucking d*ck, and I'm expected to believe that this art? Us consumers are solely to blame though. We only listen to rap music by women when they are basically wh*ring there bodies. I can't really blame the female rappers for doing what they do to make it in this sexist culture. And women consumers are to blame as much as men. BUY MUSIC THAT SHOWCASES TALENT LYRICISM OVER A*S SHAKING.

In regards to female rap, a lot (not all of them) of these new and so-called talented young female rappers are overhyped and overrated, and just use the music business as a means to an end anyway. It's hard for me to take their craft seriously. So many of them come and go anyway. I can't name one female rapper today that's been making great music consistenly for the last 10 years or so. I'm a numbers guy anyway. I go by album sales, weeks album or single has been on the charts, ticket sales, merchandise sales, number of albums or singles going platinum, or gold. Dowload sales. These new female rappers need to do well in ALL of these categories consistently for many years. If a new or future female rapper checks all of these boxes, she'll have my respect. These are my music standards, and expectations of new female rappers and future female rappers going forward. It can be done. A female rapper beating out a top selling legendary male rapper would be great, and the ultimate challenge I think.

Early rap groups dressed provocatively for their time. Salt N Pepa was pushing the edges, if you can imagine it. We've gone so far today that sexual boundary-pushing from the 90s looks as conservative as the Victorian era.

Mia X, Chyna Whyte, Missy, Gangsta Boo, La Chat, Shawnna, Da Brat, Trina, Diamond and Princess from Crime Mobb, etc. There were A LOT of females rappers between the Lauryn Hill and Nicki era. They were just from the South and didn’t get respect from the other regions they deserved.

Queen Latifah is the female equivalent of LL Cool J she’s the greatest as far as having the most extensive career. She embodies hip hop. I just got out of jail. And see how women rap now is sad. A lot of them not even rappers. They just shaking booty and saying disrespectful things.

I am torn when it comes to writing. While I understand its a respect thing and thats how the genre was founded. In other genres anyone can write the song but the vocalist must still deliver and perform the song. Someone like Kanye West is known to have writers (Big Sean, Kid Cudi, CyHi) but I dont think any of those writers can deliver vocally like Kanye can on a song.
