ОтветитьEncarta Encyclopedia, FYI, that kind of media is known as VCD or the Video CD Format, not DVD.
ОтветитьI was in my late 30s throughout the 1990s and consider it one of the most remarkable times of my life. Maybe because its when my daughters grew up, or I was younger and healthier. If nothing else, the 1990s brought us grunge music which breathed life back into Rock and Roll. I can't listen to Alice in Chains or Pearl Jam without longing for the 1990s.
Something long gone since the 1990s is music stores. I guess that's more of a 1980s thing, but a few survived into the 1990s. Who remembers rushing to the record store the day your favorite band's newest album was released, and hoping it didn't sell out before you got there? If it did sell out, you had to buy something. It was a sin to leave a record store empty handed.
This video started out with dial up internet. This is why I didn't have internet. I live in a small town in California's High Desert. We got our first computer in 1997 when I was 33 years old, so it was a learning experience. I had no idea how the internet worked, but apparently there was no local dial up in the area. Each visit on the internet connected to a phone number in Palm Springs. Imagine my surprise when our next phone bill included hundreds of calls to Palm Springs. That was the end of the internet for us until our cable company offered internet service a few months later.
Thanks for the video. A nice stroll down memory lane.
you forgot numetal…
ОтветитьThe internet was so much better back then. The only people who used it, originally were tech heads and geeks, but then it became super accessible tp everyone especially when you could get online on a cellphone.
