Exra cookie features aside, how is it different from code servers which can be self-hosted too?

You got the wrong screenshot of cider-ide in your video, it shows Emacs with the extension for Closure environment called CIDER, which has nothing to do with google's internal IDE.

Suppose if there is an engineering team that provide direct feature of deployment from code editor they can easily compete with AWS.

As soon are you mention using a cloud hosted computer, I knew was out. As others have mentioned, there are tons of of privacy issues and there is absolutely no way they won’t double dip for revenue. I can see this having a subscription while scraping your data to train their AI. Additionally, google doesn’t have the best track record of supporting their products. I hope I’m wrong, but it just doesn’t seem worth it to me.

Cloud-based IDE was released around 2016 or even earlier. I used it around that time. Integration of cloud-based IDE with AI is expected.

A proprietary cloud-only solution from a company that has a history of axing products isn’t exactly a killer to an open-source solution like VS Code.

The main problem is developed by Google. Google's reputation in making products is almost the lowest in the industry. The odds of them killing a product are much higher than the odds of that product surviving, let alone that product being successful. If it wasn't acquired by Google, forget it.
