"Palette cleanser" is an excellent description for Tottering by Gently! That's exactly what it is. It's one of my favourites. It just fits in everywhere and throws off the rain which is necessary in the South West UK!! I love it.
ОтветитьVanessa Bell and Lichfield Angel.....
ОтветитьThank you Ben. I am devouring all of your videos! Molineaux is on of my favorites this year. She is in a shady spot, but the blooms almost glow. I stop and admire her every time I pass!
ОтветитьI have Molenux in my garden and always call it New molly as I dislike it's name . Great rose, rubbish name
ОтветитьI love the roses and your videos, they are very helpful. But it made me laugh so much scrolling along the timeline at the bottom to come across "Rolled Dangle", a new DA rose?!! Whoever writes the captions must never have heard of Roald Dahl! More seriously, my latest DA roses, planted bare root today are Sceptered Isle and The Country Parson. They join several other of your favourites; I have a special affection for Kew Gardens, Scarborough Fair and Silas Marner, but I love them all. Thank you Ben
ОтветитьThis channel is exactly what I have been looking for for almost thirty years of gardening. Roses are a long term investment and a relationship, like with a pet (they outlive most pets) and unless you have space to trial them, it is about gathering facts as well as feeling an emotional connection. These videos are really helping me choose another rose during the bare root season. Thank you 😊
ОтветитьА другие розы вы выращиваете спасибо
ОтветитьI wonder why your Lady of Shalott has no scent? Mine has a medium tea fragrance!
ОтветитьYou are so very much appreciated for making this detailed show and tell Ben! I love this color range and also the coral/apricots too! Thanks Ben!
ОтветитьHi Ben don’t you do the Pilgrim anymore??
ОтветитьEverything is so beautiful
ОтветитьThank you Ben for this very nice comparative. I love Roald Dalh but it is not really fragrant. Is there any other David Austin that look and perform similar but with a stronger fragrance? Maybe Dannahue? Also, as Crown Princess Margareta have been discontinued, what would be her best alternative in your opinion? Maybe Bring me sunshine?
ОтветитьAhhh the “ The poets wife”👍👍👍😀
ОтветитьThank you Ben, I love your enthusiasm. I have two Ladies of Shallot growing on either side of our entrance pathway. I'm surprised that you said no scent because here (Australia), she has a beautiful light clean fragrance. I'm not a connoisseur of fragrances but she has an 'haa' scent. Lifts the heart. 😊
ОтветитьYour collection is inspirational! Love them all! It's so difficult to choose.
ОтветитьToo bad there isn't a rose that produces all those blooms LOL They go all so well together.
ОтветитьHi Ben, I can't get over the discontinuation of A Shropshire Lad. Any suggestions which could be a good alternative?
ОтветитьWhat a treat 🤍💛🧡🤗Watching these beautiful comparison videos is a balm for the soul. 😊 It's so interesting to see the subtle and not so subtle differences in one colour group. I really appreciate it and start fancying the idea of a yellow cream grouped area in the garden now ☺️ (a yellow/cream corner, a pink corner...) just that I do not have the garden/space for it ☺️ (yet 😉) but for indulging in the beauty, these videos are the next best thing! Thank you, @the_gardenerben! 🤗
ОтветитьLoved this review. These roses are my favourite colours of all the rose colours available. I started my collection with Lady of Shallot, then Bathsheba, then Roald Dahl, Bring Me Sunshine, Grace and my newest one is Dannahue. It’s hard to pick a favourite I just love them all. I would really like a Wollerton Old Hall but don’t think I can fit it in. I noticed you didn’t review Bathsheba. What do you think of her? 🧡💛
ОтветитьThese side by side comparisons are so incredibly helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time.
ОтветитьThese videos are so helpful. Would you consider making a video on roses with most thorns and least thorns? Thanks so much. 🌹
ОтветитьLOVE David Austin roses!! They are divine.
ОтветитьAnother treat, thank you so much! Would you also have included Claire Austin and Charles Darwin if they had been in bloom? Also, not sure if you grow Jude the Obscure but do you think it's worth having on top of Wollerton old hall and Dannahue?
ОтветитьOooooo this is fun! Thank you 🙏 As others have said, it is great to see everything side-by-side and helps get a proper perspective of bloom size, shape and colour.
ОтветитьGreat stuff as always, thank you, Ben. Just one thing - all my DA roses grow much taller then mentioned. For example Crocus Rose, this year reaching nearly 2 metres! Is that normal? I'm in the Czech Republic. Also, my Lady of Shallot definitely does have a nice fragrance - tea with a hint of grapefruit, I would say. Happy gardening! 😉🌹
Ответитьgraham thomas discontinued ?😢one of my favourites!
ОтветитьStunning flowers. I already grow Wollerton Old Hall and have ordered some others in these colors. I am sad Jude the Obscure is no longer available, but hope to buy Danahough (sp) next year.
ОтветитьI appreciate you grouping the apricots, oranges, yellows and golds together. In my mind having different rose shrubs of varying heights and widths and with these colors together would be stunning.
ОтветитьHi Ben, I love the way your shirt matches today❤
ОтветитьLove these comparison videos. Sometimes several Austin roses can look almost identical so it's nice to be able to see them in the one video to see the differences.
ОтветитьVery blurry 🙁, can't really see the roses which is never the case with your videos 🤷. Otherwise, thank you for all you do!!
ОтветитьThey’re a stunning collection Ben 🍃🌹🍃
ОтветитьThanks Ben for another great review. I have Grace growing in my garden in Nottingham and it has been up to 5 feet tall this year and in bloom constantly from mid June. Also, for me, it does have a medium tea fragrance. I guess different growing conditions and different noses will lead to contrasting reviews but one thing we agree on is that it is a very beautiful rose 😊
Ответитьthaaaank you Ben
ОтветитьMolyneux is the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers.....down the road from DA HQ etc
Ответитьthank you for making these videos! you have the best ideas to make helpful comparisons for those of us with smaller spaces and indecisiveness 🤣
ОтветитьDo you find Country Parson covered in Blackspot Ben? Ive had problems with mine from day 1. Really disappointing.
Lady Emma suffered badly this year also with disease.
