if it still doesnt work, see this comment:
Underneath the PAUSE/PLAY BUTTON there is a drop down box, this is a; very important setting.
**note i use this to record sound out of my speakers/headphones
If you have headphones this should be the settings that work for me
Windows WASPI > Headphones [name] (loopback) > 2 Stereo Recording channel > Headphones[name]
If you are using speakers then use this settings
Windows WASPI > Speakers[name]> 2 Stereo Recording channel > Speakers[name]
** For recording with a microphone
IF YOU PLUG IN YOUR MICROPHONE AND IT DOESNT SHOW UP ON THE MICROPHONE DROP DOWN BOX,
CLOSE AUDACITY AND REOPEN IT.
SETTINGS AS FOLLOWS:
Windows DirectSound> Microphone [Name]>1 Mono Recording Channel> Speakers(OR HEADPHONES IF U ARE USING THAT) For playback

ОтветитьI ran in to this error all of a sudden today. All the settings was ok but i found out that my USB soundcard, which i record from, was connected to a faulty hub in my particular case.
