Diesel fuel injectors, most are 24mm, if you haven’t found a need yet, you will.

My father has always been a handy person. I recently got married and got my own house. The one thing I got good at is patching drywall. I’m trying to become more handy myself… I have a feeling that i will still ask my pops to come help even if I don’t need it.

I've been using torx bits in lieu of allen wrenches for years. The only reason I like allen wrenches is if they have that ball end.

I have always found my tool cart to be very handy instead of dragging the tool chest around the shop.
The most handy tools I have used over the last thirty years:
1/4 drive Snap-On air ratchet, great for quick assembly or disassembly of things
curved picks for digging crap out of odd places and working with O-rings
1/2 drive, Snap-On long handled flex head ratchet
Snap-On Ratcheting screwdriver with multi-bit set
pocket slide caliper (what size is this?)
Snap-On stubby wrenches
Blue Point thin head wrenches, great for tight places
Snap-On die setter bar- great for pulling seals and prying
20 inch Snap-On pinch prybar, makes for a great tire tool and small jack handle
Snap-On soft grip hose pick , you would be amazed how handy this odd contraption can be
Snap-On thread chasers
Blue Point tap and die set
Swiss Army knife
Snap-On oval bearing race punch, great for tight places
Blue Point bushing cutter
automatic centering punch
Mini Mag light
small triangle file, great for fixing damaged bolt threads
PB Blaster penetrating oil
Snap-On reverse drill bits for broken bolt removal
various types and sizes of Vise Grip band vise grips, where would we be without Vise Grips?

I think that a 1/4 inch drive to 1/4 inch hex adapter is one of the coolest little tools I own. Also, you should ALWAYS have oil. Both an aerosolized and a regular liquid with a relatively precision size tip. 3 in 1 is my go to brand.

I agree with the snap on, but I’m not an auto mechanic I’m a refrigeration tech, but I do have a couple select Snap-On Tools, and they are just excellent tools all around. When I use my Roto head swivel ratchet, it just hold tight it works. I’ve never had a tooth slip or a gear slip and whenever I’m working with somebody else and they are using it they always say some thing about it positively snap on tools aren’t super common outside of the automotive fields and so a lot of people gonna get them and discount them for their high prices but they really and truly are worth the money. In my opinion it’s just whether or not you can justify the cost. I’ve never put a snap on tool in a guy’s hand who turns wrenches for a living allowed them to use it and then have them hand it back to me and STILL tell me that it’s over priced for what it is.

The first tools I ever bought was a Craftsman Mechanics Tool Set and Torque Wrench from Sears, I've tried other sets over the years but prefer Craftsman. Great tools, great warranty, never had an issue exchanging a tool. If you don't have dimes to drop on Snap On or MAC, you can't go wrong with Craftsman. Just be sure you buy from an authorized seller and register your kit and your good to go.

As a heavy overhaul railcar mechanic with 30 years turning wrenches...I will say snap on makes good tools, but definitely overrated and severely overpriced. Same with matco and mac..As a homeowner you should spend your money on other things . A good set of kobalt, husky, craftsman ect will do you fine and last forever for what 99% of mechanic work. I have 10k worth of snap on/matco tools at home, but at work I use mostly craftsman tools that Ive had for 20 plus years. Dont wanna lose or break my designer tools lol

Hey brother im with you on your setup. What about those pliers for opening the retaining rings for a ball joint? The set i got has a replaceable tip that i can use to get the rings of my hubs too.
I swear to buddha they are the best investment ever. Sure, ive used regular pliers and picks etc-but those pliers are so nice and make that last step so easy ill never go back.
Maybe someday ill be able to afford to pay someone to do it for me but until then. Ball joint press is amazing too-paid for itself several times over
