Watching this on a pixel 2 after finding out they still use the same camera sensor in latest pixel 6a

The V30 was meant to be used in manual mode. That's how I used it very often. I also got much better results with the google gcam port.

Please make a new smartphone camera showdown for 2018! At least once the dust settles from all the October phone releases. I loved this one and would love to see comparisons for all the new flagships coming out, as I know many others would. I'm sure this type of comparison takes its time, but it is great to hear the almighty camera guru's insight on smartphones.

well, majority of V30 users use the GCam apk from the xda forums. Pixel 2s secret sauce is its software,the camera app. Its does some voodoo Multi exposure and sharpening hdr something, so its a 16mp HDR+ photo that is waaaay more sharper on the v30. Only thing i can say negatively is the saturation is a tad bit higher on the v30 due to that 10bit sensor, google images and gcam on the v30 makes it the best all rounder smartphone

Considering that the LG V30 is the cheapest phone there and has the most features makes it okay to have slightly more colors in the camera test. Don't forget that the V30 drains the slowest too, especially when using the camera app, so the V30 clearly wins.

I think you should state that the Pixel does not display content in Wide Gamut because of an OS restriction or feature on Oreo that requires all apps to particularly invoke Wide Gamut. So saturation and colours change.

I really wish I had seen this video before buying my LG V30. The cameras are terrible. I went from an iPhone 6 Plus to the LG V30, and my 6 Plus took much, much better pictures. I don't take selfies, but the rare time that I ever use the front-facing camera on the LG V30... it's just utterly unusable. I like the form factor and the screen, but the cameras are worthless. I will definitely see if I can get my hands on a Pixel 2/2 XL very soon. I don't take pictures every day, but I do find myself taking less pictures and downright not even wanting to take pictures because of how utterly awful the cameras are on this phone. Thank you so much for this video! It really does help folks out tremendously!

Soooo...whatever you said my LG g4 got some amazing results...and may beat whatever test you made...it is still the best budget phone camera i tested in regards to quality....especially in night...

V30 ... with Oreo update & Gcam app kiks all the way all of them...Personally i compered it to Pixel 2xl & there was no difference or V30 was better...& yeah what about best HiFi jack in whole phones ?

Portret mode looks awful on any of these phone camera's. The blurring is all over the place and is very inaccurate.

My conclusion is that Max makes those cameras look a lot better than they are and doesn't leave much to be desired, either!

Believe it or not the lgv30. Auto mode it's good in most situations with good lighting especially at night it's a very underrated phone because I have one it has a lot to offer like manual mode video manual mode cinema video wide angle lens a 32 bit audio quad DAC quick charge 3.0 wireless charging water and dust resistance & can record in cinema log format at the end of the day lgv30 is more versatile then iPhone Google pixel and Note 8
