iFixit's PS VR2 Teardown- A $550 Compromise

Ifixit, please release a custom PC case that can house a laptop motherboard so you can repurpose any broken laptop into a functioning Desktop PC.

You should try disassemble Sony's Xperia. Are those repair-friendly? Unlike apples and samsungs.

Hopefully this sets a new benchmark, absolutely amazing for the price wish PC had something this competitive

had the 1st psvr and it was so bad it made me get a rift for my pc instead. didnt help that there was maybe 2 good vr games on ps with no mod options, pay $20 for a beat saber pack with maybe 2 or 3 songs you actually like, vrs pc or even mobile where you can not only get them all free, but customs as well.

For me, the lenses are a bad decision from sony...also not having a detachable cable is another issue...the terrible controller battery life is the most shocking. Sony have added a few new tech such as the eye tracking and haptic in the headset...but they have cut too many corners - most of the tech used is now older tech, which means the headset isn't really that future-proof and wont last long before it will fee outdated. I know many people try to justify the price but without the power of the ps5 the headset is fairly basic and shouldn't cost more than £350.
The nail in the coffin for me was that sony still refuses to allow 3d blu-rays on the ps5 -- they absolutely could add it but have chosen not to.

i think i will wait to see what the meta quest 3 looks like and costs

Quest 3 has a lot to live up to. You already know what thing is gonna be heavy and hot.

The drifting controllers is an automatic no for me. Start using hall sensors FFS. And no, before anyone mentions cost, it's not an issue. Google the cost of hall effect sticks vs the crappy ones.

Well, so goes the complaints about the cord breaking or fraying…..Seems super simple to replace the back rest, if the cord breaks…No tools needed…good look Sony.

Thank you for your video. The tension wheel for the strap has seized up on me. Do you think by dismantling the wheel I could get it back on track? It's so strange that I used the release button to remove the head set but the wheel never reset and is locked. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If one of these Inferred eye tracker sensor disconnects around the lens, it start to flash red and after 5-10 seconds it turns off the PSVR2, like it has a fault.

One of my PSVR2 controllers stopped working while I was in game. No battery level warnings or anything, just an abrupt stoppage and statement that the controller is disconnected. I tried the hard reset stuff the internet recommended but that didn't do anything. It won't turn on, no lights come on when plugged into any power cables, separate chargers or the PS5 itself. I used 3 different cables. It appears that it won't charge and is completely dead. I took it apart while watching this video and reseated the all the connections at the USBC port end to no avail. I didn't disassemble past just getting the battery removed. I couldn't see any obvious burn marks or damage on the charge port or ribbon cables inside. I then took the other controller partly apart and plugged the dead controllers battery into it and the 2nd one still worked. Using the 2nd battery on the first controller did not fix it. Is there a common part that has been going bad on these?

I just want to find a replacement cable. My son's dog chewed the cable in two. The cable is serviceable, but I can't find it online to save my life. It has a proprietary connector on the end that plugs into the headset 🤦‍♂️
