I’ve always said that the US never actually gained independence because of one fact- the people who claimed independence in 1776 were actually British who were denouncing their roots basically. For the US to truly have been independent then the native Indians would’ve been the ones to claim it and they would’ve established their own government with their own laws and anyone who was British or descendants should have to follow them. Never should’ve been George Washington or any of the others who signed the Declaration of Independence, it had to be native Indians, the ones who really needed independence. Since that never happened, the US never actually gained independence.
