If you love how a set of markers feels in your hand even if they are considered cheap and disposable could you just put copic or ohuhu refills in them if the color match is close enough? 🤔 I mean...that seems to be the biggest negative aspect when deciding what to purchase but...why?

Sanjoki and Chotune are great and cheap alternatives for beginners who want to try out alcohol markers. And they both come with a brush tip, which is even more awesome for that cheap price.

I've been teaching teens with the cheapest 24 piece set of Touch clones, telling them to use them and abuse them. Then if when they're all out they want to keep coloring with alcohol markers they can buy expensive markers knowing they enjoy the medium.
People who start new hobbies with the most expensive stuff tend to get performance anxiety and not use them at all because they're afraid to "waste" their supplies.

The colors on the chameleon set are nice even with the gimmicky blender issues

The caps with the "divots" where they connect with the pen are so you can twist them loose vs pulling. It acts kind of like a ramp to lever the cap loose.

Is there a set that contains more natural muted tones, or do you have a tip for combining markers to tone them down in vibrancy? I'm at a point where I'm going to have to move to a more joint-friendly method of coloring whether I like it or not.. but I'm always frustrated because my markers are such saturated "in your face" colors.

I love this! All your comparison videos are incredible! Thank you. <3 I wish Amazon would ship alcohol markers where I live, makes me sad. So instead I've been trying to get a similar "look" from my watercolor brush pens with not the best luck so far. Blah.

Is there any reason not to combine marker types? I have a set of bianyo, which I love, but was thinking about getting the set of pastel ohuhu to expand my colour options. Would this work?

You’re dreaming if you think those copic ink refill prices will ever go back to the way they were pre pandemic. Once companies figure out they can get away with nonsense like that and still profit, there’s little incentive for them to restore the original price. Which is why I’ve been boycotting them...Because we can all dream.

I just picked up a 24 pack of the Spectrum Noir Classique for 40% off of $34.99. Pretty good deal for 24. Also picked up a 12 pack of Copics also 40% off. An 11 pack of Molotow Blackliners for 40% off and a 12 pack of Prismacolor Premier, also 40% off. My local Hobby Lobby had a sale today for 40% off all their pen sets over $9.99. Made my Saturday! Lol.

This was so helpful. My collection is mostly Copic & slowly I will keep adding but I did buy a set of I think 30 Ohuhu & they work great. I also ACCIDENTLY bought a set of Touch Bool markers whick are bullet & chisel tipped. The learning curve, as you said is much harder but they are juicy & haven't dried out yet. (They're only a year & 1/2 old though). I think all I need are a few more blue greens, yellows and truer greens. 😊 Thanks for all the info!
