You know it’s a good movie when you can empathize with the hero and the villain.

Jerry recognizes that he’s a monster and he was most likely turned into a vampire against his will, but he still kills people in order to survive. He has no plans to takeover the world or spread his vampirism (in fact he decapitates his victims so they won’t become vampires) he just wants to live and be left alone.

But at the same time Charley can’t leave him alone because he just can’t look the other way and allow innocent people to die. As any rational person would most of the time.

Chris Sarandon was SO sexy in this film, he made you root for the bad guy!

Wow a vampire gave a choice

No wonder Superman fights Dracula in the comics. Not really a contest, but Dracula is a very intimidating character. You would have to be a Superman to stand up to him.

There appears to be a short moment when Brewster is able to resist the vampires strength. Jerry appears to redouble his effort to push Brewster out the window. Did anyone else notice?

This movie showed me to mind my own businesses. If Charlie would have took jerry up on his offer about forgetting him than Charlie wouldn’t have to go through all this mess in the first place

theres sth subtle here that EVERYONE has missed. chris sarandon is from wv where i grew up. there is a well known story in that state of a "telltale" lilac bush that would scratch against the windows of this strange old mans house at night. so many people noticed it they dug it up to lo and behold find the remains of his wife. so much of chris input is in fright night including the painting of amy. the funny thing is NOW we know where the body of the second girl might just have gone. apparently wasnt in the trash behind the house.. likely buried right by charlies house in the flower bed and the branch is her ghost still trying to get help. creepy huh..

When Jerry says he has no choice I agree with that as far as him being a rational zombie. However killing innocent people was where he had a choice. Meaning if I were him I would have been killing all the people no one would miss. Murderers, rapist and all other assorted trash...the monsters walking with earthly feet. Jerry had to go

Classic horror

I saw this back as a little kid in the 90s and it scared me so badly. I never knew what the movie was called though until now. I always remembered his jamming the door and getting stabbed in the hand.

Walking like jerry should be a way to enter a room, classic horror, do you know how much trouble you've caused me, get in that closet the hard way,

The music in this movie was epic.

I never have seen the movie.

He's definitely a great vampire. I really don't think he's a bad guy. Just trying to live and constantly giving Charlie multiple opportunities to walk away.
