Hi, I am somewhat new to Diablo 2 (I played as a wee lad, but it was ages ago). I just want to win the game lol
Is the smite paladin a good option? I'm afraid I'll run out of mana

Ive always ran hammerdins as my main, but they can be hard to get to the point you can run effectively. I normally run holy fire all through normal until i can get to nm and get a 40s polearm for insight so i dont have to worry about mana. Then just getting the end game gear for one can take ages. Since i dont jsp or buy items, but once i do get equipped i do free rushes for everyone.

Light sorces can do 40k+ dmg, but you gotta remember light has a very low minimum dmg so sometimes you might not hit very well.

Smiters can be good in pvp also if your good at charge then smiting

I’m so glad they buffed the summoner Druid. Growing up it was one of my favorites with the grizzly bear and now I can run the wolves with him to be able to compete in nightmare and hell

What happened to the Chaos Windmill Assassin?

You dont have your Nova sorc set up right. Run the infinity on the sorc and a 17m Insight on the merc. You can still reach the 105FCR by dropping an SOJ or a nice ammy. The -55LR on the character makes it shred monsters while your merc keeps you topped off on mana. Run prayer on the merc and sandstorm makes you are basically immune to elemental damage. This is my favorite build I have ever played. In players 8 terror zones I just jump into a pile and hit them with 1 static then nova them 2-3 times and everything dies. Also I get to run around with an eth scythe and confuse people. I had a guy give me a perfect eschuta last night thinking I needed it.

I was wanting to see a Korlic build (Leap Attack) vs. The Ancients !! .. ive seen on LoD a Talic Build (whirlwind with IK gear) & Madawc Build (tfeifongwong channel) (double Throw) ... did defeat the Nightmare Ancients with Double Throw) myself.. still stuck in Hell Chaos!! Though! .. but Never Seen a Korlic build taking on Any Bosses! Or The Ancients... perphaps Korlic is "weakest" & always dies first (naah he can "stun lock" , i died ALOT on this one!!! .. on my "No Skill & No Stat" run! Rely ONLY on my Merc to kill & Skill granting gears.. cuz i am Toooo Weak to deal ANY damage or equip Hi Powered weapons!! .. but that cool to see Leap Attack in action!!

Just gotta point it out, if you're number nerding, horadric into the stash. 1 tp scroll, if IDing use ground scrolls, rest stack charms. This'll give you a 2x2 space freed up despite the 4x5 space in the cube that won't benefit you for further charm pickups.
You sac a 2x2 for what? A 2x4 SINGLE pickup? If you're not gluttony puckup all-the-things, cube is wasted space. Yeet rings/talis/gens/runes in later, abuse inv appropriately fir your focus, and boohoo doubling tp scroll, you make 8x+ back on that shit roll unique, just tp again.

Be real, you weren't filling the cube, you were cherry picking drops using cube to hold stash items and tomes.

Summon necro not being on the list is a outrage. I mean poison nova is really strong but it just can't compete with the summoner.

Yeah Nova Sorc with Infinity Scythe is pretty OP, Id say better than just a basic Light Sorc but thats me. Its so much faster.

Going with the nr one. It's a easy build to level as well which is a bonus.

Back in the days i always had a Paladin with Frost. The only HC Classic Char that i get to lvl 99. It took ages to get him there 😂. Second was Javazon and thrid was my FoH Pala that sucks so bad, but i loved the Animation and Style. Love to see that he is strong now. Maybe i will give it a try. But D2 is so time consuming for an adult with kids 😅

I hate the Paladin. Hammerdins are so annoying with their flying hammers and I don't like the playstyle. The Fist of Heavens I like to see in public games because he can heal and because of his conviction, but I don't like to play one. He's to restricted and only does well in some areas.

You have used the term "expensive" a couple times. What do you mean by that?

My past favorite build has always been ww polearm barb (used to be ebotd great poleaxe, but now I'm sure ebotd war pike is better.) One reason is that polearms have a reach of 5 instead of the usual 3, like on swords/axes. Pride on a might merc (or might+reapers) and fortitude with a titan build (all str) worked well for me for damage, as survivability isn't a huge issue with shouts. I'd have to experiment with one again, but that was the most FUN build I've ever played (other than maybe poison necro with skeletons). There are a lot of viable builds, and powerful isn't always the most important at end game imo.

Unless they fixed it with the new patch, I think the best starter build and one of the best builds in every regard is Frozen Orb / Firewall sorc. The only issue is when you run into Cold AND Fire immunes, but everything else melts.
