An overview of how elements are organized in Revit. Revit elements are grouped into categories, and then into families, family types, and individual instances, or elements. There are three kinds of families in Revit: system families, loadable families, and in-place families. There are also three kinds of elements: model elements, datum elements, and view-specific elements. It is important that Revit users understand all of these concepts.
