DON'T Buy a Gaming Headset Before Watching This!

The problem is that the perfect headset doesn't exist. Unfortunately its just getting the most of what you want.

I have a Plantronics 8200 UC that I use for work. Instead of a boom mic it has dual beam forming mics that I think sound great and do a fantastic job of noise cancellation. I've had times in meeting where my kids are making all kinds of noise and no one hears it. Why aren't gaming headsets making use of this technology more? I've never owned a high end gaming headset, but it seems like the boom mic is always the first failure point. I just replaced my kids headsets with a Logitech G435 because it doesn't have a boom. I might even get one for myself, though I'd generally want something nicer. Right now I'm using an old Sony wired headset with a mic on the wire, which is also less than idea.

Comfort is king is so important. My expensive steelseries headset just died after 6-7 months. I put with the huge weight, need to restart headset / replug usb to connect, randomly turning off, random static etc. I went back to my extremely light weight logitech headset that has gone through a lot of rough use and still works. Plus instantly connects when turned on. It's plug and play.

Can you recommend a headset with a great wireless range? I want to be able to talk to people in discord while doing stuff in the kitchen. I'm currently using a logitech g935 and while it has a good range, that think breaks like once every year. (I've got it with a 4 year extended warrenty that runs out soon, and already had 3 replacements in that time, and now the latest replacement starts to fail again :-/ )

You guys should try old Plantronics GameCom 788. It have the BEST surround sound implementation to date. Much better what modern gaming headsets offer. It's clear, not echoey, and just feels like you are sitting with desk speakers.

I just got the Corsair HS80 RGB USB (wired), its so good for the price. Top tier microphone quality and High res audio. The comfort is amazing. One thing to note is that you need to tune the EQ in the ICue software as it sounds flat out of the box.

I personally hate "gaming headsets", it is better to buy normal audio headphones like DT 990 PRO or DT 770 PRO with low Ohms (32, 80).

I'had a set of Corsair HyperX Cloud II since 2015. These things will not die. Without a doubt the best, most comfortable and most bulletproof headset I have ever owned. HAve used may different headsets for gaming since the mid 90s.
I have dropped them on a hard lino floor probably 50 times at least over the years and they will not break! My biggest fear now that HP bought out the company is that they will change the design and screw things up royally... or just stop making them all together.

Would you be able to give me a recommendation on headsets? So I’ve always had my Astro a40 tr,s and for me if always been happy with them. I’ve been looking around but just a bit overwhelmed on what to get. I wouldn’t mind getting a wireless headset but if I could get one that is wired also so I can use it when the battery starts to die I’d be happy with that. Also great vid, it’s been helpful but would like an opinion still if you can. I should add sorry that I’m on Xbox also, plan to get a pc some point when I have the room to put it in😂

I currently have a JBLQuantum 400 and I've been looking out for a headphone for a while now, i want a good gaming headset (if possible) but it will mostly be used on TV, I thought about the Steelseries Arctis Pro with the gameDac or the Pro wireless, they both give a virtual surround sound and i can use them on my TV by the optical output, but I've seen a lot of reviews (in my country) saying that it's great but the wireless version sucks cause Bluetooth would work randomly so yea... I found a few other one that could be alight like Razer's Blackshark V2 hyper speed and V2 Pro or even some normal Bluetooth music headphones. And yes i do know there is specific headphones for TV (RS 175 for example) but I'd prefer not to have this big thing you need to plug in the TV plus the communication works with radio frequencies so yea pretty hard to find something for me in all this mess. All of this because yes my TV support Dolby atmos but not only the true dobly atmos are very expensive but I also live in an appartement so i wouldn't be able to use it, plus I am not perfectionist enough to refuse virtual Dolby Atmos, so yea for me the best thing I could get is a Dolby Atmos headset with good sound quality (at least 20hz-20kHz) and a way to connect it on my TV either by the optical port or Bluetooth (it have Bluetooth 4.2 idk if this is important) and HMDI eArc (and 3.5mm audio) so if anyone have any suggestion i will take it (thx and congrats for ready all of this)

I wish people would take more interest into having a decent mic on their headsets so we would not have to live with this very underwhelming voice chat experience anymore. But people rather get unnecessary and ugly rgbs and cheap looking "gaming" design.

I got both of the open back siennheisers after your videos on them. Great headsets never get hot ears, the open back gives perfect direction audio. But yeah if you have noisy neighbours it's a draw back

I have a question about wireless bluetooth headsets. I have one, and my audio quality of all other apps drops like a rock the moment I join a discord call. The headphones go into "headset mode". I've read it's inherent to all bluetooth devices like this, the same happens with my galaxy buds etc. How do bluetooth gaming headsets avoid this problem and sound clear? (can they?)

Don't buy a gaming headset at all! It's literally just a cash-grabby gimmick. Buy a professional pair of headphones, it'll last so much longer and look so much less lame.

You're talking about virtual "surround" sound. Real surround sound makes a pretty big difference vs stereo or virtual "surround" sound. I am looking to replace my wonderful Roccat Kave XTD 5.1 digital true surround sound headset I bought in 2015. But most reviewers conflate virtual garbage with true surround sound and it's kind of annoying.

No mention of amps or did I miss it?

I have a hyper x cloud 2 the the rubber finish melted with hot weather an the ear covering started shedding after some time , its a good headset but with some problems.
