So he said they came out in 2011.... that means it's been 2 years and I still don't get it. They're just noisy electronic cymbals that don't use triggers?
ОтветитьIt´s an update to the 2011 Version with a cymbal trigger, that mainly prevents bleeding.... Target group is IMO the e-drummer who´s looking for a cymbal that does not have the haptics of a plastic pad. Wonder if they also improved upgrading of the sound shapes. From what i heard so far i am not very convinced that there is much progress ont that item.
Ответитьnot the best sound quality here, are there any studio recordings out there that use these cymbals?
ОтветитьThe Gen 16"s are amazing for working with orchestral musicians due to the volume limitations of many orchestral instruments. They work particularly well on e kits. On acoustic set-ups they can work well as effect cymbals. The Gen 16 hi-hats are awesome. But these are not for everyone but are certainly great for players who are required to play in quiet to medium volume settings or for drummers who want their e-kits to feel more like a real drumset. I love these cymbals !!
Ответитьthere's this video on YT... Zildjian Gen16 and electronic drums systems - Kotora
ОтветитьLed Zeppelin yea!
ОтветитьI've tried this system at GC in Fountain Valley, CA. Basically... it sucks. The pick up on the bell of the ride (the most obvious place you would play on that "cymbal") started choking from the first note/strike. I thought it was me/user error , but no... all of these cymbals FEEL terrible, function horribly, and just serve no purpose for real drummers interested in a quality product - which this isn't. Do NOT invest in this expensive, broken toy.
Ответитьthis guy would play the whole song
ОтветитьGood concept but needs to be developed further in my opinion. They don't sound too in the videos I've seen them in.
ОтветитьGotta say, looks like they spent more time on the friggin' lights then the sounds. All the sounds seem too 'shimmering / glassy''. Let's face it, it's nothing more than a trigger (system). I want to hit my 12" splash, and (if I so choose) hear a killer 60" GONG. Why not. The Gen 16 system needs to be warmer, and really impress me with the acoustic history of Zildjian cymbals, (which I play exclusively on my acoustic kit). I want to be able to hear a 20" vintage K, as well as a 20" A, etc.
ОтветитьHe compares them to an electric guitar. Hah! Nice try, but with a couple pedal clicks, an electric guitar can go from smooth jazz to death metal. And yet, I don't hear much variation, at all, in these cymbals. They keep showing us a few hi-hat sounds that are *very* similar. Give me a ride that'll go from dark & dry to a bright, sustained shimmer and anywhere in between, with a playing surface that is responsive and complex, and you'll have me... maybe. Or I'll just stick with my acoustics.
ОтветитьThat hi-hat sounds nice. Way better than a rubber trigger does.
Ответить2013 and still sucking. Awesome.
ОтветитьCan someone please tell me what that iPad stand is?
ОтветитьThis is a great solution to play at low volume and not bother my neighbors. I will use these in conjunction with the remo silentstroke mesh drum heads to avoid playing rubber padded drum heads/cymbals. If I should decide to record, I will use the DCP along with midi triggers on the drums. Pretty great way to setup in my little condo and have a nice place to record demos and play drums with a much more natural feel than rubber pads.
ОтветитьWretched pretend recording of 'Kashmir', replete with the plastic 'splat' of electric drum pads with no feed to the audio input. I'm trying to get excited about Gen16s, but this just rains on my parade.
ОтветитьNo likey. Too buku and too plasticy. I will stick with the real deal.
ОтветитьI came here to hear all the cymbals. Especially the china. Not just the crash and hats. Still trying to check out the cymbals, not impressed with this demo.
