Powehi

Holes: Now clinically proven! This first image of a Black Hole was released on April 10, 2019, showing luminous gas swirling around a supermassive black hole (mass = 6.5 billion suns) named "Powehi" (pronounced "poh-veh-hee") - located at the center of the M87 galaxy, 55 million light-years away!

This historic image was produced by the "Event Horizon Telescope" (EHT) - a planet-scale array of eight radio telescopes based around the Earth, including two in Hawaii - from a five day period of observations (synchronized by atomic clock, and comprised of more than a Petabyte of data) in April 2017!

The ring of light at the edge of the "black hole" in the image technically shows the inner limit of Powehi’s “photon sphere” – the boundary for any stable photon orbit around the gravitational singularity that is known as "Powehi”! This is where the black hole's immense gravity can bend the path of light photons into orbit around it! The "Event Horizon" a.k.a. "Point of No Return" at which no light or radiation can escape the gravity of the black hole - is deeper into the darkness*! Answers to the mystery of "the beginning and the end" are contained within the space-time portal that is the Event Horizon!
