Make sure to secured the rights to your master recordings from the record label. No record label should retain ownership of a song even after it had been reimbursed financially. That is completely abhorrent. Every artist should put themselves in a position where they will benefit the most from their tracks success. Ownership also means you have the final say in where and how your songs are used. Make sure you do this as well as educate those you help along the way to your success.
