A17 Pro iPad mini Officially Announced! WORTH THE UPGRADE?

I thought they would’ve put the a18 base chip in it. I think the a18 series does better than the a17 pro in heat and efficiency

For me it's going to be a choice between the iPad Mini 7 and the rumored new Mac mini, so I'm going to sit tight for a while.

Super disappointed. I wanted a pro version and had $1k for it. Everything in the m4 iPad Pro but in the mini. Except maybe an a18 pro instead. For this BS it should be $349 not $500

Cameras on iPads are pointless. I am sure almost no one uses them

I think the camera placement is fine on the mini. They’re probably thinking for face time calls it’s best to hold it vertically. FaceTime presumably being the Mini’s main use case for the front camera.

If you can play Resident Evil on this one, I’ll grab one for the kid for Christmas.

I would say… if you have a Mini 6, nothing worth upgrading for. If you want to move into a Mini, worth it, especially cellular model.

Being they only refresh these about every three years, I was really hoping for the a18 chip. I’ll be keeping my iPad mini 6

And… the new Mini is not a Pro. It literally looks exactly like the Mini 6, to include buttons and camera locations.

I thought it would have A18 but I might get a mini version but not yet I still love my iPad Air 4 but it’s too big and heavy for me but I miss my iPad mini it’s small but it’s good enough for me to use videos and gaming I have Nintendo switch lite and I love to play on the go

Man, buy a cheap iPad mini 6 at this point, we needed more than just a spec bump to make this a win

More power in an already over powered machine… no face id no change in actual function or real world capability. Ill keep my 6

Big win for IPad Pro M4 owners 🙌🏽 A17/M3 is significantly weaker/less future proof than the M4 + Oled 1000 nits SDR makes a huge difference. 750 refurbished/used is a steal

If you have an iPad mini 6, it doesn’t look like you need to upgrade.

still no oled ipad mini?! tough to use when using an m4 11” other times. wanted the mini size but the specs are crap

Yeah I’m getting it, I’ve been wanting to get one for a while but didn’t want to deal with jelly scrolling. It’s good that it has the A17 pro because my iPhone 15 plus is missing out on all the Apple intelligence stuff. So having another smalller device with it seems nice

Far too expensive. Only £100 cheaper than the iPad Air and it’s got a worse chip.

I’m betting that since these are all spec bumps, there won’t be an event at the end of the month. Just a stealth spec bump. Kind wish they would update the Studio too.

Held out and completely underwhelming for a much loved form factor. Moderate power improvement but not enough and didn’t fix display or add Face ID. The whole Apple Intelligence as a selling point is now just outright embarrassing cringe for Apple who clearly have butchered their run at it.

So there’s no apple event in october

The purple IS a new color. The new one has the same, more violet color as the iPad Air, so the color is more pinkish. The iPad mini 6 had more of a lavender color, which skewed a bit more blueish.

I mean considering the new worthwhile features are
1: 8GB in 7 vs 4GB in 6
2: A17 Pro in 7 vs A15 in 6
3: Apple Intelligence
4: double the base and max storage

I do believe that this mini could be a suitable upgrade for anyone that has an older iPad mini thats not the 6. Mainly because of the new storage options and ram which almost certainly includes the ability to download apps that require 8GB in the future.

A18 Pro chipset???? Means 120hz is confirmed!!!!!
