You don't overcome trauma, you have to learn to live with it.
You need to read the book "The body holds the score" it's about how the brain is physically changed after traumatic events. That's what leads to PTSD which is a feeling of constant anxiety panic attacks and fear.
Addicts are all self medicating and getting clean isn't an achievement when you go back to feeling scared and anxious 24/7
Psychedelic therapy has been shown to actually rewire the brain and has a huge success rate for people that are "treatment resistant" or have literally tried every therapy and medication there is. It's a last resort now, but hopefully will become a go-to first treatment as it becomes regulated and practiced properly.
Trauma victims are many, any times morenlikely to become addicts as their brain tells them "this is how you should feel" when all your day to day life symptoms go away for that short time. You never forget that and neither does your subconscious. Its beyond rationality. It drives your decision making for you - like water and food and oxygen - feeling calm and free from fear is what normal people feel all the time. Its why addicts often say "I use to feel normal"
People that critisise or have no sympathy for addicts have No Idea what its like for people suffering and why they choose not to
Omg Sylvia! I Remember when she had an intervention!!
ОтветитьHer mother was the enabler.
ОтветитьAnd also people I don’t know pot is just pot. I started smoking pot in sixth grade when I got invited to it from the people I was around is it willpower to just say no thank you. I don’t know can somebody help me understand no, nobody will ever understand.
ОтветитьChildhood trauma is number 01 for mental health issues!
More supports needed for people struggling. ❤
I don't know how I stumbled on this video but I am so happy for her. keep up the good work! life is so much better when you're sober!!
ОтветитьHer parents have nothing to blame but themselves. They rejected her, and cause here to seek attention and acceptance from the wrong people because they didn't accept her for who she was. This is what happens when you don't support your kids!!!!
ОтветитьYo.... I get a kick out of these tough manly lesbians.. they be turn into females real quick when situations get hot... see her crying like a girl right.. I know many of them ...
ОтветитьThis show shouldn't be called 'intervention'. It should be called 'American Parents'
ОтветитьShe gots that good fetty I want a shot of fent so bad right now
ОтветитьI’ll refer anyone get some from
“ @𝗟𝗘𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗦
Nope. She still would have done the drugs even if not for her childhood story. Maybe shed be straight if that didnt happen !
There's always a trigger excuse for adddicts, yet the story didn't make the choice to do drugs, the user does
The pink hair on the mother says all I️ need to know.
ОтветитьNo ests traducido
Ответитьrest in peace karissa.💔
ОтветитьBull💩 I was spending £50 a day 2 - £25 bags around £350 a week and that was a bad habit , £1400 is way over dramatising it lol
ОтветитьShe needs to get into the blues! The blues are way cheaper than heroin! Plus way stronger and higher quality!!!
ОтветитьThe interventionist was also on the show... sevete alcoholic
ОтветитьWow that's me except I'm not a junkie..
ОтветитьRespect for you girl
ОтветитьHow she Work everyday😊
ОтветитьThis is so sad to watch, she passed away from a hit-and-run. May she rest in peace.
ОтветитьHands down the greatest drug in the world!!! I love heroin and wish I had some!!
Ответитьum fact is some addicts live forever so ... its the people they are around who suffer ...the endless problems they cause the lies the theft the identity theft you leave your home they have friends who let them in the ransack your life you cant hide they know how to track you theyambush you flatten all your tires to keep you hostage they use to be your friends so they know all about you they sale information its just ... so awful for the ones who dont do drugs who arent alcoholics who work hard to build normalsy these people tear it down you live in fear and stress
ОтветитьSo she did 32 "bags" of heroin in one day but spends 1400 a week? Yall gotta stop believing every word these dopeheads say
Ответитьtwin ahh look dead inna eyes i hop she straight tho 😭😭
ОтветитьThats so sad that she was killed in a hit and run , and her best friend was killed in a motorcycle accident
ОтветитьI spend 500 a week on weed don't tell me anything idc
ОтветитьAs a former heroin and xanax user.. I went to treatment 3 times. The Right Step in Wimbley TX and LaHancendia in Hunt TX twice. Unfortunately in 2013 I left AMA in February, that following March 22nd 2013 I was caught for 2 robberies. I did 4.5 years in TDCJ after getting released I had to do 1 year on house arrest with GPS ankle monitor. After that I was on parole for 3-4 years. I have been clean since March 22 2013 to present 🎁. Heroin was the hardest substance to kick and 100% get off. I hate to say it but prison helped me get right. I developed a solid understanding of a work ethic, school ethic, and overall quality of my self worth.
Ответить😢🙏🏾
ОтветитьI wish they would do more follow up shows. I would love to see what life is like years into their recovery. And if those who refused treatment ever got help later etc
ОтветитьShe died in 2017 of a hit and run.
ОтветитьWhy let drugs destroy us ,it's a medication use it for a reason and not only for pleasure ,learn to control
ОтветитьThe dad's the only person strong enough to physically keep her in the room and he was absolutely useless.
ОтветитьHaving been addicted to heroin methadone, and painkillers for 12 years, I can say the person addicted has to reach rock bottom to want to climb back up, for me it was almost going to jail and I would of lost my child. The mother here is thinking that she is helping , but shes not. Be supportive yes but to fund her habit is as bad as being her drug dealer . PS been clean 19 years almost :) any one who is struggling with addiction , it can be done , no matter how many times you fail get back up and try again . Peace
Ответитьthis seems to happen quite often. parents enabling *smh
ОтветитьCome on people! Stop giving money for his/her poison addiction!
Ответитьmarijuana to treat opium and heroin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьThis really triggered lots of emotions in me she still lucky she had people who was willing to help her
ОтветитьIm watching this with tears in my eyes knowing i got nieces n sisters n i was feeling the feelings i ll definitely hurt someone if they abuse or violate my loved ones... Im sending her love where ever she is ❤️🩹🌍
ОтветитьYeah no doubt spends others money 😡
ОтветитьRest in peace Sis
ОтветитьPeople who struggle with opiates the most tend to all have one thing is common:
Unresolved emotional pain/trauma
To say another way:
A core wound that is in need of healing.
I love this comedy show 🤯
ОтветитьNever been terrible. Sounds delicious
ОтветитьSo, so many people failed this young lady. The person who abused her. The people who allowed her abuser access to her for four YEARS. The people around her who made her feel unable to reveal the abuse, and ultimately proved her right by confirming they didn't have her back when she came out. Her best friend's mother who gave her an opiate when she was only 13, and presumably kept supplying her. The same mother who manipulated Karrissa's grief, turning her into a drug mule for two years. The list goes on... and now she's dead. Forever young.
RIP Karissa. You deserved a whole lot better. I'm glad you had a measure of peace at the end.
RIP to this sweet angel. I wish we could turn back time for you. Fly high 🕊️
ОтветитьPoor child gets physically abused, doesn't get the help needed, turns to lesbianism and then drugs. Makes you wonder, just how many examples there are of this exact scenario.
Get some help.
