Thank you for the confirmation. New shooter, just started this week. You are 100% correct. When I focus on the black circle on target it bullseye. (I color the center black) I Didn't know why i made a great shot. Thinking back there was allot less movement. In fact i was really relax.

I shoot with both eyes open (no matter they're firearms, compound or recurve). I don't know how my eyes work together, but seems that the picture in my brain has the pin and the target both somehow focused (not perfect though) I cannot achieve this with one eye open.
Shooting with both eyes open do take some practice

This helps a lot well explained, well executed, and that close up at the end show's some result; for those who doubt, pay attention to the foot steps, you'll notice the distance ;) Thank you for sharing

Same thing with practical pistol shooting . Especially with slide mounted optics you can occlude the dot to help. I wonder about sticking black tape I. Front of your pine would do the same

Really just practice enough like this that your brain just aims for you because when you don’t think about it muscle memory takes over and does it for you

Great advice. I concentrate on the target. I was taught that in the Marine Corps. You want the rear/peep sight and the target to be clear. And you want the front sight post/pin to be blurred. If you're a hu ter, you want to see the movement of your target. So you can alter your shot. You will definitely shoot better. It might not make sense, but once you're accustomed to it, you'll wonder why you did it the other way in the first place.

so if you focus on the target....you'll still have to adjust up or down on the pins...otherwise you'd be just hoping and praying on the distance

I agree with him a hundred percent up until the target is at a 100 yards. Than those pins come into action. For some it could even range closer than that.

The bad thing for me is I've heard this before, and I still have the issue of watching the pin. It's a habit I have since I started learning and it's hard to break because while I know this, I aim without thinking and because I don't think, I automatically fall back into this bad practice.

After 34 years of bowhunting, I stopped using a pin last year. I "frame it & claim it" using an EZ-V sight now. I don't even have to remind myself to focus on the target instead of the pin, because there are no pins! It took some practice, but I will never go back to using a pin or crosshair for bowhunting. I don't even use a rangefinder for practice any more. Haven't even touched my rangefinder since last spring turkey season. A doe took me by surprise yesterday morning. I still don't know how she got within bow range without me noticing her, but the ground was damp (quiet). I think she may have been the first deer that I harvested from a hang-on stand in a sitting position. I am usually up long before they reach me. Now that my eyes are older, a sight without pins works better for me. I only share all this, because it fits with what you are sharing. Focus on the target!

that was the one piece of advice I was looking for. I was absolutely focussing on the pin and although I was hitting the target I wasn't consistent. Just went out and fired four arrows at twenty meters after watching your video and they are almost touching each other. Very pleased with that.

ever shoot with 2 eyes open? what do you think of it? i've got a red dot on my handgun so i am comfortable with target focus, 2 eyes open, but i've had to consciously teach myself to close 1 eye for archery and it feels weird.

Do you first focus on the pin just to make sure it’s on the bull then shift focus to the target without moving? I’m brand new to this so I know the bow itself is better than me because they all hit within 6” at 30yards haha it’s hard to miss a 6” circle w a compound bow but I’d rather get 1” groups thanks
