ОтветитьHello sir, my name is Randolph. I raise chickens, ducks and geese and a few goats for personal usage. I have 8 people I have to feed, how many Pigs would be good to have and maintain + have alittle left over to sell, or throw a bbq every once in a while? Also What were the dimensions of your pens in the video? And how many pigs did you have in each pen? It looked like 2 pens but I couldn't tell.
ОтветитьYour Dad was a great man!! Thanks for the old school teaching about the pigs. My God bless y’all
ОтветитьChris how many female and how many male pigs do you have. What are your thoughts on artificial insemination. I have two gilts that I plan on artificially inseminating's this is my first time doing this. This is my third year of raising pigs in the past I have bought my piglets and raised them for the freezer and than I had a couple of people ask me to raise a pig for them so this year I am going to try to breed and raise piglets and sell them. Thanks
ОтветитьHey Mr Chris I live in Alabama I have a young deer Rock guilt would a hamster bore to get breeding Pig for
ОтветитьThank you for your honesty.
ОтветитьWe live near a major metropolitan area. We sell to city folk. They will pay a premium.
ОтветитьThx for the info. We have 4 wooded acres down south and are considering getting 2 feeder pigs to raise- they can get rid of the underbrush.
ОтветитьAny idea of what they sell for live weight
ОтветитьIs it just easier or cheeper to put the pigs in a small feed lot rather than run them on a cover crop pasture or forest paddock?
ОтветитьI hope you keep spreading the good information man really help having it as a young guy with no experience with pigs just cattle
ОтветитьWe plan to do pigs, not to make money, but to have another food source when our government is done with their plan if ruining this nation.
ОтветитьWow 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 this is a great wealth of knowledge to learn from… 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
ОтветитьYou shoot straight from the hip. But reality is some of these people definitely dont understand profit etc. You are so right
ОтветитьThank you. I am really glad I found this video and subscribed, will watch all you other videos.. Just starting out and your advice really makes sense....Have 3 Large Blacks. I could'nt make out what breed you have there. Are those Tamworths, thanks!
Ответить"You're better off just not figuring your labor... you figure in your labor you'll just get depressed and quit doing it." Subscribed. That's honesty right there.
ОтветитьPleasant morning my name is Michael coffee watching your video I'm from Trinidad and I'm interested in buying two small weiners from you
ОтветитьThank you for keeping it real
ОтветитьGreat video…what you said about paying yourself back is something I was taught by my father and as some of the most sound financial advice that anyone could give. Probably the best thing I’ve ever seen in video on financial advice.
ОтветитьI was wondering who do you sell your hogs to or do you have it all Processed and sell it individually
ОтветитьYour honesty and “farm economics” is what made me subscribe. Thank you.
ОтветитьI love the honesty. It lets us know what to expect, the good, bad and ugly.
ОтветитьMy family raised pigs on pasture for about 25 years. We had one nice sand hill we liked to keep them on, easy on the pigs, didn't smell much. But it was relatively close to a neighbor. About 20 years after we quit and moved away, I ran into that neighbor at an auction. Got to talking and all of a sudden he says "I sure do miss those pigs being next door. I'd lay awake at night listening to the sounds of of those feeder lids banging. Enjoying the country aroma drifting over. Sure do miss those pigs." Obviously, he grew up country. No city slicker would have ever enjoyed having 150 pigs out side their bedroom window.
ОтветитьPraise the LORD for creating cool animals!
ОтветитьHow many sows does it take to get a litter a month
ОтветитьJust starting to build my pen for a few feeders. I've learned so many valuable lessons from this channel it's crazy. My figuring is, if I can grow my own pork and break even on cost in the long run by selling one or 2 here and there is a winning game. If profit were to come, even better.
ОтветитьBeen watching lots of your videos. I really enjoy them. Do you make a living totally from homestead or do you or your wife work away from farm as well?
ОтветитьHey buddy do you have some 1 row equipment for a super A farmall?
ОтветитьIs there a way to encourage pigs to poop in a specific area?
We will have a decent sized area for their pasture. But part of that space is located up wind from our house.
We have heard if they have a large enough space they will only poop in 1 area of that space. Wondering if there is anything i can do to coax them into pooping in the far corner.
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these videos. Your helping more than you will ever know
IS THERE A CONTACT NUMBER TO BUY DIRECTLY FROM YOU CHRIS?
ОтветитьWhat vaccines should I give my piglets?
I am picking up a pregnant birkshire Sow next week she is due at the end of next month.
Be very weary of a man who has a pig farm
They will go threw bone like butter
You sell and ship any pigs mr chris?
ОтветитьBeater no to know:)))all cut. Rap. Or. Sale. Costemer frezz.pack ,;))
Ответить👍👍👍
ОтветитьGreat video, Chris. You've really worked for what yall have built there. Have you warmed up to hog wire a little more now? I'm just about going to have to go with hog wire for my tops because I can't afford $40 per hog panel.
ОтветитьThanks for the information! I'm curious, in you opinion, does growing alfalfa or other cover crops add any benefit as far as being able to save $ on some feed? If you were only raising 3-4 pigs a year and had an acre of tillable land, what would you plant if anything to feed them fresh and saved for later? I thought of corn because I can let it stand for a while and cut as needed for my poultry but would like to know if you think there's a good system for supplementing pig feed also? Thanks!
ОтветитьAm I the only one that wishes Chris would upload a lot more videos !!
ОтветитьBulamu family farm Africa Uganda ❤
ОтветитьAll I hear when this man speaks is wisdom.
ОтветитьI'd like to know what exactly is in that red cup! Great video.
Ответить@HomesteadTheHardWay Would you say I'd save any money if I raised my own pigs to feed my own family?
Or is it a better deal to buy my boneless hams at the store for $3.50 a pound ?
I believe the hardest part is finding enough customers to buy from ya.
ОтветитьIf it's that unsuccessful why do people do it for decades and generations?
ОтветитьI just found your channel. I really enjoy it so far. I appreciate you just telling it like it is with no bs.
ОтветитьGood to hear from you my friend
