Hey Alex , your videos are very informative . Thank you
One questions does jira also have functionality of timesheets & capacity planning
I know there are Two apps supported by jira that does the job
Timesheets by tempo
Capacity planning by tempo
Is it possible in jira to have such features or apps are required ?
You missed one of the coolest features!! 40 minutes in, infer dates by story points, then tell Jira how many story points each Team has historically completed (velocity, or let it do it automatically), and it will calculate the completion of Releases for you on the fly. Which of course requires your Stories to be statements of value, not motion/discipline, and your Points to be an estimation of difficulty/uncertainty/complexity, and not count of days. If your Release (fix version) spans the whole duration, then your backlog is not prioritized correctly, you have stories for that fix version at the top and bottom of your team backlog. This is one of the most powerful things in getting teams to be less waterfall, while still giving executives the dates they crave. If they don't like the date, you can quickly adjust scope by drag/drop of fix versions. This functionality is also very poorly documented, it probably deserves a video itself. I'd be happy to collab: linkedin /in/scrumnerd
ОтветитьThanks for posting this. I'm only 13 minutes in but I wanted to mention that I appreciate i) your comment that orgs with both waterfall / agile methodologies will appreciate ARs, ii) presentation of Roadmaps (now Timeline?) before going to Advanced. As for audio, I have to set my headset and computer to max volume to hear you well enough.
ОтветитьHi Alex, do you recommend using parent link for generating hierarchies in Jira in general? Currently we linked our epics to another issuetype.
We have some project management in which we try to generate a hierarchy - currently on Jira Server. We will switch in the next few months, thats why I am asking.
Your videos and channel are awesome! Thank you. I am helping my team navigate a premium trial and this is a huge help. Because Atlassian's documentation is alright but stepping through the process and warning of the pinch points is 10x a better way to guide someone.
ОтветитьHi Alex! In one of your Advanced Roadmap video's, I thought you mentioned possibly doing a comparison of BigPicture and Advanced Roadmaps. Is that video out there somewhere? I searched, but could not find it. I'm looking for a high level overview / visualization of the main differences between the 2 Jira Add-Ons. :) Thank you for your video's - they are so easy to follow and learn from! Much appreciated!!!!!
Ответитьhi great job. love from India
ОтветитьWhen creating an issue under an Epic in Advanced Roadmaps, when I click create story, it defaults the issue being created as a bug. I can change it to story, but the next time I refresh the plan, it will revert back to bug as the default one. Do you know if there is a way to update the default one selected here? I have tried editing the order of the issues in the project's issue type scheme which has not worked.
ОтветитьThis is really great! I was able to pull some excellent nuggets out for our team and how we use Jira.
I do have an odd question - we use Jira for more traditional PMing (no story points); the idea is to use Plan to share the project progress with our Clients so we're not doing rework by creating a project timeline elsewhere....is there a way to exclude any task with or without a specific component? We don't want to show the Client's everything, but specific issues and their progress.
Or is there potentially another method of categorizing and singling out Issues within Plan to display?
Thank For This
ОтветитьI watched this video for full hour. It's great and very informative. One question - Can we create Dashboard for the Roadmapping View?
ОтветитьJust watched it and already recommended to everyone in my company. We have JAR and nobody really knows how to use it. Thank you so much for such a nice clear explanation. I literally said WOW out loud few times!
ОтветитьHi Alex, thanks for sharing this tutorials. This is really useful for beginners. Que how do I add back epics that is being removed from AR? I tried to remove the project from the plans and added back in but its not reflecting in AR
ОтветитьThank yoU!!! Do you know why my preview may not appear when i click in the plan view?
ОтветитьAwesome. Thanks. This was really helpful!
ОтветитьHelp! From the advanced roadmap I can create epics and issues and assign them to projects, but it doesn't actually create the ticket?! How do I get it to actually link to the issue? / create the issue?
ОтветитьHi Alex, awesome videos! You are becoming my go to guy. Thank you for some excellent tutorials
ОтветитьVery helpful - going to share this with my team. Thanks!
ОтветитьHi Alex,
So since a ticket is created in the backlog for the initiative, does this mean that it stays there till the all stories are complete before whole initiative is marked as done? Even if it takes 4 (2week sprints). I'm asking as carry over happens and this means an initiative would stay in backlog for a very log time, How does one handle that?
Epics appears on the roadmap and is linked to the ticket, why would Initiatives not act in the same way if it's higher than Epics? and if it does do you have a video on it I can watch?
Hi Alex, been watching your videos and it has been so helpful, this video is just what I needed right now! thanks so much!
ОтветитьGreat one. You are a buddy that every company needs….would be beatiful to see you at the unfix community to see how the value streams would look like in jira…..
ОтветитьDamn!! when you said you never figured out auto scheduling my hope crashed to the floor a little.
Love your videos, they are really helpful.
How do you generate those Progress fields? Its not out of the box Jira in Custom Fields. Other than that, your video is very good.
ОтветитьThank you so much for this!
ОтветитьGreat feature that is now included in the Data Center version of Jira
ОтветитьGood tutorial thanks! One question, if I hit review changes and publish everything, then the watchers, assignees etc will got many notifications on issues updates or not? I am just afraid to spam people after publishing :)
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьVerrrrrrry important question here.. I see you're using the Shure SM7B, but the audio on the video sounds like you're just recording through the laptop mic. What gives?
ОтветитьThanks for the video...
ОтветитьGreat video Alex thank you so much for all of your effort on these videos! Is it not possible to have the sprints show up in the right time window that allows you to set the start and end date of the sprints and then reflect that in the time area or is the time area only driven by start date and due date?
ОтветитьI really wish you would have spent more time on Views. Im still trying to wrap my head around the differences between the various out of box views.
ОтветитьYou mentioned that story points only work in scrum. Whats the solution for visualizing any given tasks value and points toward completion on a Kanban board without making a separate scrum board? What we have currently is that there can be half the tasks in an epic completed yet 80% of the work is completed and we have no way to visualize the value of what was completed.
ОтветитьIf "initiative" level was created for one project but doesn't exist in another - can I still use it in advanced roadmap for those other projects?
ОтветитьHey great video! I was looking forninfo regarding to jira roadmaps! Want to start using those!
ОтветитьIs there a way to add this to the dashboard so that it becomes part of sprint reviews or something like that? Just so we can review to see what the upcoming milestones are and how we are doing in relation to them.
ОтветитьI am so glad I bumped into this video. Great stuff. Thanks
ОтветитьThanks! great video!
ОтветитьI didn't find the Plans tab in Jira what can I do is it in premium account?
Ответитьhi, is it possible to see the linked issues from different projects in the basic view of the plan? for example if a ticket test1-1 and i have linked tikcet test2-1 , can i see it in the basic view of the plan like its a child issue?
ОтветитьWould love to see advanced advanced roadmap stream as well to go beyond the basics. Thanks for the content!
ОтветитьNoticing that when trying to add boards/projects to the Plan. It only allows us to add if they are "Company projects" vs "team-managed". (were created using the Jira templates) is there a way to get both types added into your Plan? or do you need to convert the Team managed one (team one is a Kanban, company projects are Scrum. If you do need to convert, does it impact the "team managed/kanban board in any way?
ОтветитьI’m using jira (data center) application with version 9.1.1 , is it possible to have roadmap in this version?
ОтветитьVolume is extremely low.
ОтветитьJira basic is good stuff. Advanced roadmap is great stuff. Great video Alex.
