I remember the simpsons shorts on the tracy Ullman show,

I think a lot of people are lost by nostalgia. Sure a lot of people grew up with that hand drawn fluidity, that I can also say has a certain feel to it, but ultimately studios need to adapt, and the Simpsons did a great job of doing so. The animation looks great, and they still show creativity to this day both in animation and in story lines. I think it is ignorant to degrade your perception of a show based on "what it used to be", because in the end it is still great now!

post HD really was a death sentence. Having to essentially start from the ground up with a new generation of artists. There's been a kind of information, or quality in fluidity thats been lost in this translation to HD.

The last barfighter is the 706th episode, The last barfighter is the final episode of Season 32, not manger things.

1987-2009 had the best animation for me.
Especially earlier on, I loved the more energetic, fluid and messy look.
The coloring also looked a bit deeper back then.

Sad that as the animation got better, the writing got worse.

So many fond memories of watching the Simpsons hear in Australia the simpsons used to be on every night at 6pm and Wednesday nights 7:30pm for new release episodes and 7:30 pm Friday nights and then i would watch the Simpson marathons every Saturday morning on FOX8 from 8am until 12pm as I kid good times

ill always say this; the early 2000s seasons especially 2003 look the best and they are the most nostalgic for me

I wished they would have stayed with the more realistic approach of the earlier seasons. I recently saw an episode where Homer had his stomach torn off and his guts hanging out and nobody cared, including him. In the early seasons they could feel pain and it would have consequences.

The modern digital designs look so flat and sterilized. The characters used to have some life to them.
And while the older characters, especially the Simpson family, retain some semblance of the golden age designs, the new characters seem to follow a style sheet and just look awful.
New characters could be from a completely different show if it weren't for the yellow skin.

Insider, why not. People in real life change throughout the years. I think that they weren’t aged except in the episode “Barthood”.

Al Jean and Insider, I just learned something new. In the episode of “The Flintstones” when ‘Fred’ is cloned, he was cloned only ten times.

Insider, most of the time, I prefer hand drawn animation over digital or CG, although the latter two are okay once in a while.
