I just scratched my brand new work monitor. Googled and first that came up was this. And it worked like a charm 👌🏼

Thank you so much! I had this really annoying scratch on my monitor (caused by a not so pleasant person I've cut out of my life). I was lamenting having to buy a new monitor eventually because I couldn't stand seeing the scratch and being reminded of them. Now it's basically invisible, can only see a speck of it on a white screen, and that's ok, my issue was this scratch ruining my shows+games :) This saved me 200$

Hey, I just want to say that this WORKS! It saved my life today- I put a scratch on my 75-inch 3D TV which is irreplaceable because the electronics companies are total dicks and don't make them anymore, while I was moving some equipment onto my shelf. I seriously wanted to die- the scratch wasn't too bad and only noticable on bright scenes but I just couldn't live with it. I looked around everywhere online for advice. The consensus was not to do anything for fear of just making it worse, but I read that Vaseline doesn't cause any damage. I first intentionally put some scratches on a computer monitor to see if it would do any good, and the scratches were quickly reduced. I decided to try it on the TV, and the scratch is now un-noticeable as I am typing this on that screen with the bright white background. I wouldn't bullshit anyone about this so take my word for it. And fuck all the electronics companies for dropping 3D capability and making this the last TV I will ever buy! If I move in the future it will have to be treated like a one-of-a-kind painting!

How often this fix needs to be repeated? I take it gets "worn out" with drying out and temperature changes?

Great video and tip. Actually, what works best is a Chapstick. Just rub the Chapstick right into the scratch and then wipe of any excess with a tissue.

This worked. It means that it would be possible to make it permanent if we had the right tool. Maybe mixing the coconut with a tiny ammount of glue or something..

This sounded so troll and ridiculous that I had to try and when I turned on my monitor I could tell where the scratch was and had to turn it off to spot it LOL - My apologies for the judgement and thank you!

In case anyone is finding this now. Try gently rubbing a pencil eraser on you screen and then wiping it off with rubbing alcohol first. It should help get rid of plastic residue left over in the scratch

Found this video after picking up a 'bargain' 27" monitor, only to get it home and realise there's a large scratch right in the centre of the screen which rendered it practically unusable. Figured I'd got nothing to lose by trying this but expected it to be some typical internet rubbish which wouldn't work - how wrong I was! It's rendered the scratches almost invisible meaning it's now entirely useable. Thanks!

Just brought home a 46 inch 1080p LED TV from 2014. Beast of a TV and heavy, but had some scratches on the screen from the rock wall it was resting on. I watched your video and looked around but didn't have any Petroleum jelly. I DID however, have a chapstick. I cleaned the screen, leveled out the scratches gently with a razor blade (Because the sides were raised up), rubbed in the chapstick, cleaned off the excess, and all but the deepest gouges have vanished. Not only that, but my TV smells like Pink Lemonade lol.

Thank you DIY Perks. <3
