No other breed can regularly get 245lbs to 285lbs, there are some the will also get around 220lbs like. The Alibai, Spanish mastiff, boerboel, cascauian Shepard, Turkish Malaki, and a hand full of others. But none of them regularly get 245lbs to 285lbs like the English Mastiff who is just as tall as the Great Dane

I get stomped but cuddled and drooled on

My bubba won’t quit eating rocks I have to keep an eye on him 24/7 he’s 6 months now and has had 1 surgery to remove them but still swallows rocks. Vets have done test all of that no deficiency’s. I have worked and worked with him but he still will try to go hide and eat rocks as soon as you’re not looking. Does anyone have any ideas on how to help besides muzzling? My last mastiff she was a girl she never had this problem.

Several years ago I had a nail appointment and it so happened that next door was a shipping office. They were coming out and had a 6 month old Italian mastiff... I didn't even acknowledge the owners, dropping to my knees, let the dog get my scent and started to just love on that gorgeous dog. I did say hello to the owners and apologized for not getting permission, they both looked at me and said that that was the first time the dog just took to someone.. I felt so honored... hope that I never forget it.

She said she gets climbed on, squashed and snuggle. Lucky dog!

I am sad to hear that they only have around 100 puppies born each year in the UK 🥺😢 they are very popular here in the US and there are a lot of backyard breeders (unfortunately) as well. I live in NJ and have one and soon learned we had a few in my town. People really love to stop and talk to you about your baby. It is a lot of work, they are big babies and need a lot of attention, good nutrition and lots of health issues. If anyone is thinking about getting one please please please do your research

I'm going through radiation and chemotherapy for throat cancer. I told my wife I wanted an English mastiff to celebrate when I'm cancer free. I get my beautiful boy mastiff the week I'm done with treatment 😁.

My parents got me a mastiff that we named murphy back when i was 4 and growing up with him was the best experience. His favorite game was playing fetch with a full size soccer ball lol. He lived to 12 too.

My last dog was a Mastiff/German Shepherd mix that we adopted from a rescue. He was WONDERUL. He did not drool. He lived to be over 13 years old.

The English mastiff has over twice the bite force of a Pitbull, you really don’t want to get bitten by one.

Why is a “backyard breeder” bad?

I understand if they’re neglecting them and just doing it for money or something, but a lot of “backyard breeders” of mastiffs love them just as much as these breeders do, and know just as much about them.

It could be different for other breeds, but to own several mastiffs you have to truly love the breed. Every “backyard breeder” of mastiffs I’ve met in Canada has them on massive farm-like properties and have had several mastiffs for 20+ years whilst loving them like (if not more 😂😅) than their own children.
