This method is for cloning the entirety of your existing drive and OS installation to a new drive.
As far as we're aware there is no way to copy purely the OS files from an existing installation and have it remake all the connections to your apps on your old drive.
If you're looking to use a small SSD as a boot drive, and can't trim down your existing installation, you're probably better off installing Windows from scratch on the new drive.
Can you do a video of:
My mother board has two m.2 drive ports and i want to upgrade/ clone my 980pro 1 TB to a faster m.2 2TB using the two m.2 drive ports on my mother board. THanks
I've tried several times now to clone my current C: (128gb SSD) to a new 2TB SSD (M2.0) using the Macrium Reflect Software. Copies the data over no problem at all, just cannot get the new drive to be bootable. Only have one SSD M2.0 slot in my laptop so using a USB converter to read both drives. If install the new drive directly into the laptop it wont find it, BIOS wont even see it. What am I doing wrong
Ответитьcan you clone everything else without cloning the windows software when transfering to a new and fresh reinstall of windows on an ssd when the windows software has been corrupted!! also i use the mini partition tool wizard that is alll for FREE and works!!
ОтветитьThank you for the vid :)
was just wondering, if my OS is installed on my SSD, is it safe to remove it and then put it back in? It wont reset or anything?
Im sending my pc in for repair and my boss says i need to remove the drives first.
PS the repairmen wont need it to repair the pc ive been told.
I got an error 9 read fail 23 😢 any fix?
ОтветитьVery helpful! I had a techy friend help me build a PC seven years ago and now I'm ready to expand my solid state boot drive from a 500gb drive to a 2tb one and this was very easy to understand!
ОтветитьClone fail problem
ОтветитьThis is a really good video, it helped me a lot. I had to figure some things put myself but it just made me think im smart.
ОтветитьWhat if I want to clone data from an SSD to my Local disk drive?
ОтветитьSo I’ve cloned but the partitions are not showing the little blue windows logo on the partitions I’ve tried changing over to the ssd in the boot drive and it just won’t boot from it?
Ответитьdefinitely gonna follow the evo installation
ОтветитьAfter I installed the new ssd I just get a black screen when I turn the PC on I don’t know what the issue is can anyone help me plz
Ответитьwould be fine if my machine actually registered the ssd and could open/use it, gone through bios and done everything i need to but the file manager knows its there, knows its a 2tb but thats it, cant access it or read it without a disk?!? like its got zero media on it at all and it wont allow me to format it either
ОтветитьDoes it include the passwords of the websites which are on the HD?
ОтветитьHow would you do this if you have a laptop?
Ответитьdave sounds like mumbo jumbo
Ответить>macrium >easy
ОтветитьHello, I have an old computer which has SSD with satay configuration installed. This computer is spoilt but the SSD is working fine. I have bought a new computer with SSD. The problem here is I want to clone the old SSD onto the new computer so that I do not have to install all apps over again. This will help me get the Windows on the old computer into the new one. Is there a way to do this?
ОтветитьYou should also be aware that windows may need reactivation after cloning as mine did.
Also be aware that any programs that were registered on the old drive may also need a new activation as sometimes ssd/hdd, motherboard are all used to generate a specific code in the activation process. So not all cut an dried as simply cloning and away you go. It's not a big problem, but just something to be aware of that this and many online tutorials don't tell you. 😉
Use old Ver Aomei 6.0 to clone
ОтветитьWhen I try this it says that it can’t make the volumesnapshots, can anyone help me pls
ОтветитьMine only took a few minutes and then it said something failed but then said the clone was successful and then when i checked my files it said my ssd was corrupted can you help me?
ОтветитьHi. This worked wonders for my needs because doing a clean install couldn't save a legacy program. But cloning helped preserved it. I do have a question. How can I get the Windows logo to show up again under the c drive in windows explorer?
Ответитьon macriom reflect can i just copy windows only in my new ssd !?
ОтветитьUsed this method but things were missing on the cloned drive. Windows didn’t work right so had to wipe and fresh install unfortunately.
ОтветитьHi there. Any idea why after closing my pc with the new ssd 980 pro in, i get a bkack screen with nothing to do? I tied to puf back my old ssd but still black screen. Thank you
Updated: okay i resolved the issue but now i have 693 bg unallocated and greyed out... sny help please?
Hello im going to try to explain what i need done so hopefully you can help me i have alienware r12 using windows 10. when i bought it i swaped out the dell factory ssd boot drive with a evo 980 1 TB. I want to take the 980 evo boot ssd drive and put it in my new alienware r15 for just a second storage drive and put the original ssd boot back in my r12 wich should have windows 10 still on it. plug and play i hope lol. how do i take windows off the evo 980 and factory set the ssd so i can use it for another storage drive on my new r15. it comes with 4TB ssd boot drive. thanks for any info.
Ответитьi will start crying, can someone on this goddamn planet explain to me not how to copy data from a hdd to a ssd, i NEED TO TAKE OUT THE OLD SSD AND REPLACE IT WITH THE NEW SSD, I DO NOT HAVE 2 DISKS, I HAVE INLY ONE
ОтветитьAfter cloning drive I don't see the extra disk space of the larger drive what am I missing
ОтветитьIf u do this you lot risk having to reinstall windows with a full delete of ur files and everything if this shi goes wrong
ОтветитьI get the feeling these two have just fallen out.
ОтветитьMine started working but I misunderstood the part about disconnecting the original drive and then it wouldn’t do the same but now I just figured out you need to have the patroons in order. So instead of having the 3rd patroon fill up the space on the right just move the 4th partition to the right and fill the 3rd
Ответитьhalf a tutorial, great.
Ответить*make a backup. So thanks for leaving this out. SMFH
Ответитьvideo sucks
ОтветитьYou've literally fucked my computer from following this tutorial, don't recommend
ОтветитьI would be nice if they showed how to change the boot priorities in bios instead of just hand waving
ОтветитьIf I did this with 2 M.2 ssd, can I switch their slots afterwards?
ОтветитьThis saved my project, thanks for the tutorial!
Ответить"Much more expensive than a 2.5" Man am I glad this line aged like milk! Great tutorial, thank you.
Ответитьworked like a charm for me. went from 80 gbs (lmao) to 1tb!!! thank you :)
Ответитьstill useful! Thanks!
Ответитьone question im upgrading to bigger m.2. i only have one slot on my mb so when i clone how do i attach the new m.2 without removing the old one
Ответитьi did it but now my computer just turns on to the bios
ОтветитьThanks, excellent video. I just installed a new SSD on my friends PC to replace his HDD. Just one thing to help others avoid 2 hours of wondering why the PC isn't booting -- make sure all other SATA ports beside the new drive are not being used. My friend had a Disc drive that was using a SATA port and caused the PC to not boot with the new drive. Once I unplugged it, it booted right up.
Ответитьwill this work with a samsung t7 external ssd?
Ответить👍
Ответитьdo you guys have any number i can contact you, i have some hard drive that i would like to clone
ОтветитьJust used this video in 2022 for my Asus laptop (HDD --> SDD). Had no issues following these steps 5 years later.
