Me watching this as I'm taking a break from designing my rounded-cornered, gradient-filled app: 👁👄👁

I'm designing an e-commerce product and wasn't sure to go with slight rounded corners or sharp corners. Thank you for this, everything makes sense in this video

I HATE the playfull gradient 2023’s design with stupid goofy minature icons, gradient shadows, it gives me headache for some reason. Gradiented 2022/2023 SUCKS. I want the 2000 / 2010s glass design, if it becomes a trend again, i will not have any headache anymore. Please respect my opinion.

Nice video but not sold. It's not really new or deserving of a new trend. Completely flat design is at least 10 years old. Google and Apple design systems have been doing "Flat design 2.0" for years. Which this NueFlat basically falls inline with, just less fleshed out and more restrictive.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. I do agree with the frosted glass/see through effect and I've been experimenting with some industrial design queues as well in places with bold techy looking fonts. Blocked by bold contrasty lines I thibk it looks pretty cool. I'll have to do a video on this lol

This is awesome. This is my time, baby! So much of my personal aesthetic has always been flat and colorful and that was forbidden in art school - modeling everything was essential. I am so happy to see an advance to a cleaner, more upbeat and indeed, punchier virtual world!

What do i think? I think that it goes all flat (without those gradients and other "realistic" stuff), simply because:

- it's easy to implement and fast to change after some data analyse
- it's better to focus on UX itself than put much time in glittery interfaces which people doesn't even care about
- aaaaand obviously because we as ui and ux designers are lazy

:D

Fantastic explanation - but I honestly don't like the way these new styles look. There is something to be said for not following fads and trends and developing your own sense of taste and artistic expression within the bounds of good design principles. Create trends rather than follow them.

I'm glad you're abandoning that "soft-modern" style, I've noticed you've been slowly pushing that away for a while. I've been using this "neuflat" style for over a year now and I'm so happy you'll be featuring it now, because in my opinion it's great!

Love your style. But how can you speak about visual design in such a general way, divorced from both brand personality, target users and function? Aesthetics don’t live in a vacuum. It has many dependencies. Visual UI design is the top of the UX iceberg, building on everything that’s below the surface; personas, value proposition canvas, user stories, journey maps, wireframe, prototypes, testing, iterations, mood boards and universal accessibility to name a few ;)

I wonder if the "NeuFlat" design is a design trend geared towards larger screens? I'd imagine the interface would look quite horrible on older devices such as the Iphone 8s? Especially as you described, with larger and more bold fonts.

Hi Michal, it's good to see that you have already coined the name 'NeuFlat" as the upcoming UI design trend for 2023. I would like to suggest you to please make a short tutorial for this very new trend on all of these ideas you talked about. Finally I would like to say that I still like subtle aurora or mesh gradient effect because it feels natural and organic and it has some sort of intuition.
