FULL RULES! Basic Battles: Tabletop Games for Kids

As a dumb adult who doesn't have the patience to read 200 page rule books, I appreciate this for learning the flow of how these games work.

I play this with my grandchildren and we use Lego Star Wars Minifigures. It's Great fun. Thanks for the Rules.

This is great. I've been doing the same, creating my own rules to play with my kids. I made my rules similar, but we only have one phase: either you can choose to shoot or move (tanks, cars, infantry etc). Each player takes it in turns to move one figure of your choosing at a time. In one cycle of play, each figure can only be moved or shoot once, until the cycle goes back to the first player. This makes it more tactical, you can react to others movements or whatever . My kids love it.

Finally a simple game for kids or individuals who are sick of super complicated rules that cause games to last hours and hours.

I've had to simplify wargaming for kids and I usually adopt the 4+ system. Using a d6 it's 4+ to hit, wound and defend. For movement I don't use measuring tools. Just the miniature's base size (which is usually 1") x4 making movement quicker and less fiddly. Actually, I confess, I use this system when playing solo skirmish and I'm too lazy to follow rules. !#~*! 🙂

Nice ruleset, I think it should also work well for a fast paced skirmish game with adult players.

By the way I think it would be really easy to add a "ranged attack" option : same rules than the charge (d12 to see if you manage to touch, and the attack only affect the first unit it reaches), but without moving the shooting unit.

Maybe it's already what you did for the stormtroopers vs. robots skirmish?

My son and I have a bunch of civil war, dragons and fantasy plastic soldiers. great channel. looking forward to more content.

When I was a kid my cousin and I played with little green army men. We'd call attacks (green guy attacks tan guy for example) and flip a coin. If you call it right the guy lives if not he dies. Realllly simple but when we were like 7 it worked well.

Was just this morning printing off some minis for my 7 year old to paint and he asked if he could try playing a game. So glad I found this channel!! Excellent rules.
