Testing Shaper Origin Handheld CNC Machine

Definitely would like more in the shaper. Hopefully this isn’t coming too late.

Do you have a video using this tool to make/cut a brass branding stamp?

Curious how much precision is required from the operator...as I age, I've developed a bit of a tremor in my hands - do you think I'd be able to get good results with the Shaper Origin?

This tool is amazing for people who need cnc but don't have the room for a dedicated cnc table.

How much is the shaper plotting tape per roll? This process seems long winded so what are the main benefits?

Can you use any sd/usb for the shaper or can you only use the one that comes with the shaper?

show me more please - that tool may be perfect for my crowded shop, and I like how it still leaves room for the individual woodworkers artistry

Wouldnt a wood burning tool work just as well?

£3300 in the UK with the box and other bits!!! That's a lot of money for a smart router even for people like me who like technology. Even taking a premium into account its too expensive for me to justify. Good for larger projects though where you aren't limited to the CNC bed size.

Newbie. Noticed the board moved when you were doing the touch off grid. Did that cause a problem. Guess it’s not good if board moves.

Obviously limited to flat stock. Cool tool though.

I have recently retired and I am in the process of building a shop from an old barn on our property. This is the first time in. many years that I am without a shop to work in ( For 30 years I had a shop at my work that I had free rein in so I am missing that)
Anyway I was quite taken by what I could see of your shop, do you have a video about your space, how it is laid out and what you do and don't like about it.

first question: what stops the machine from just going all over the place? if its hand held how is such precision possible using your hands?

Thanks for doing the overview, that tool is a huge overpriced disappointment. Looks good for a home handyman who is going to build a sign for their gate.

4000$ plus tax on sale in Canada ,no thanks if I get into CNC mine as well get a small 4x4ft for 5000$ and don't have to hold it, can't see how it will make it in the market

For what that thing cost, I think I would rather sacrifice the floor space for a conventional CNC. Interesting concept though.

I like the Idear of the tool. What i dont like is this exessive use of "positioning" tape you need for one project.
You get one roll of it for around 20 bucks.
So you buy a tool for 3 grands and still have to buy these rolls all the time to use it.
Smells like the good old printer - color cash cow to me.

You can get a really decent cnc for that price, but then again, if space is the issue this might be the thing. One thing though, if you have a large build that takes ours, this is not the tool i guess.
