Demon Slayer is Extraordinarily Incompetent

This video has good points but you focus way too much on your nitpicky rants like character design and misogyny rather than simply getting to the main point with the criticisms of characters and plot structure. I understand that when you really dislike a piece of media you tend to magnify on every little mistake it makes (I do that too) but talking about these minor minor issues with the same gravitas as the major ones makes you look excessively ill spirited and the main takeaway for a lot of people watching will be that you’re just a hater when really you have actual good criticisms and suggestions. If you put all the focus on your main grievances and cut out the fluff then I think the message would get through to more people just my two cents.

Totally "turn off thinking and watch sword do magical swings" type show. But I enjoyed the anime pretty much. Maybe because the good production value and that I can easly tap into that "no thinking" mode.

I think its pretty fun and cool, its animation is what carries it no one really cares about the stories. They like the simple to understand character, mazing designs, and god like animation

Very very silly anime to me ,I like the action thats all , I dont like the masks , I just got Netflix after years of not watching I started watching sword village arch and I couldnt watch anyone after the first demon encounter , taking a break. I had a friend who was obsessed with Demon Slayer and constantly trying to get me to watch it. She put it on once, and I just was NOT interested. At all. This explains why, thank you. I've been reading my whole life, writing, and studying story and structure. Characters are an absolute passion. I think my problem was them jumping into the tragedy so fast. Why do I care? Imagine Last of Us without an intro to endear Sarah to us. Or (from the sound of it) jumping straight to the time skip and finding out later about her. The game wouldn't be the same, and we wouldn't excuse Joel for nearly as much

When I watched it, I could barely get through the second episode. The main character was wayyy to whiney for me, and the story just isn’t written well

My first and forever biggest issue with Demon Slayer... the slayer test.

They are a HOPELESSLY understaffed operation, loosing BADLY to the demons, BARELY hanging there. But they keep fighting, SUPPOSEDLY, because they value human life and their fellow man above all else.

And yet. And yet!

They throw their trainees, unsupervised, unsupported, "get good or die" style, in a pit of demons every year to select the best ones, AND LET DOZENS OF CANDIDATES DIE IN THE PROCESS. Candidates they NEED! Whose lives they supposedly CARE ABOUT! That now can't go back to training, can't improve, get better, try again, and JOIN THE CAUSE. That is, again, HOPEFULLY UNDERSTAFFED.

WORSE YET, they left an overpowered demon, WAY too strong for the entry level they're selecting for, run wild and murdering in those grounds... instead of sending ANYONE more qualified to get rid of it. They're just letting a DEMON, the thing they HATE, murder their students indiscriminately, candidates they DESPERATELY NEED.... for?! What reason, again?!

So to counter the breathing styles point they are kinda different. Wind breathing is mostly offense with no defense, water breathing is a good defensive technique, thunder breathing is more about precision and speed, sure they have cross overs but you can't really diversify swinging a sword too much and they all are derived from sun breathing so they obviously will seem similar.
Love breathing is a self developed technique but Mitsuri was trained in flame breathing first.
Insect derived from flower which is derived from water breathing. Sound derived from thunder.
I just don't have the same issue with breathing styles.

And tanjiro kept breaking his swords because he was using a style that didn't suit him so he stopped breaking them when he used sun breathing by itself.

So he kinda was fucking up by constantly using water breathing when it wasn't the style he was most proficient in.

I do agree he is kinda boring, too much kindness not as many true flaws to overcome like zenitsu or inoskue
Zenitsu kinda got fucked up by reverting to a cry baby after the final showdown shoulda stayed the bad ass that took on kigaku

The part of this video about the lower ranks being written off from the plot so quickly is something i often think about, and im glad this video had pointed them out. I think that the story would've benefited from tanjiro actually losing to one or both of them, and hashiras with higher ranked slayers being the ones to actually take them out, to show the viewer/reader how powerful the lower moons are, and how powerful must upper moons be.

Your point about the Female demon slayers using feminine breathing styles is HOT GARBAGE. I mean seriously, it looks you didn't even try to understand those characters and why they use those styles of fighting. Mitsuri created love breathing (from flame breathing) because of her undying love for her family and friends, using that love and passion to fuel her attacks. Shinobu created insect breathing using her intelligence and knowledge of demons, so she could overcome her lack of strength, using poison, like insects who use toxins do defend themselves from their much stronger predators. Kanae learned flower breathing as it is the least painful breathing style, because she wanted to find a way to coexist peacefully with demons. Kanao learned Flower breathing by watching her sister performing it.

I just feel like the pacing is too quick! I'd really like some time to get to know the family so I can feel bad when they die, so I can have sympathy of Tanjiro and Nezuko but I just don't! And I wish the Demons were built up a bit more with fear in the first episode than just "be careful it's night and demons are bad." You don't get time to rest.

This vid will really help me explain to others better why I'm not that hooked and didn't get hyped up with this anime. I can't explain and just keep saying that I'm too confused with their character growth and how they are so powerful in this episode but not on the next one. It always feels that in every episode (I just finished s1 and s2 tho), their character growth and development just resets to maybe 0 - 10%. This vid just pinpointed and gave detailed explanation as to why it felt like that
