ОтветитьThank you so much for this video. I've been looking at retiring in SE Asia or Latin America. I have been to the Phillipines, Bali, and Thailand. Haven't been to South America yet. But, I really liked SE Asia and with your information it helps make my decision easier.
ОтветитьLatin amerika
ОтветитьThe bars on the windows in Latin America is as much out of custom as it is out of necessity.
ОтветитьI'm in the process of trying to figure out where to retire to, Eastern Europe, Panama, or some South American country, and open to SE Asia if the transition is not to difficult and will still be able to retire ony SS Check alone.
ОтветитьI knew some of this information but learned so much from watching. Great video! Greta job Dan and Qiang!
ОтветитьYou are absolutely correct ❤

Nice countries....don't need lots of $$
Hi Dan I like listening to you. I have a question do you dye your hair? And if yes what do you use?
Thanks Chris
Dan, I just took a trip to La Paz in Baja California Sur. It’s a four hundred year old port city of 250,000. Let me state unequivocally as I’ve lived and worked throughout Mexico since 1992. This part of lower Baja California is a really nice zone with several outlying towns such as Los Barrilles and El Sargento with great opportunities for an affordable, safe and healthy lifestyle. The bigger towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose de Los Cabos are not far off if sought. The water is accessible, the rent is not exorbitant, it has all the services of a major Mexican metropolis. The main airport has $250 non-stop flights with multiple carriers to LAX as an Asian gateway. $400 to DFW , Phoenix, Denver and Atlanta. Even Madrid is available non-stop as a European gateway. You can bring your own car and many belongings from U.S. without red tape. There is swimming, cycling, hiking, sailing, fishing etc. If you want culture it’s a bit slow. But the cheap getaways can be had to US, Mexico City and beyond.
ОтветитьReally appreciated this video! I've been looking seriously at both Latin America and S/E Asia. I hope to start scouting places out within the next two years. Going to keep in mind your observations!
ОтветитьWhat is the name of the inexpensive apt/hotel in KL again? Very interesting.
ОтветитьI find your comments are excellent when it comes to travel. One thing I'm interested in that NO ONE covers is the quickest and easiest way to get from one place to another. I am traveling SE Asia but it seems I have to go through Bangkok or KL to get to all of these places in the Philippines. I like to avoid some large cities like Manila.I would like to be able to fly from the places I like b est like DaNang. I have to go through Sigon to get to most places. Any idea about how to get from place to place quickly. I am thinking about making Malaysia my base but I like Penang and from Penange you still have to fly through KL. I would take a cruise if they were available but I don't see any from Vietnam or Malaysia to the Philippines. Any ideas would be helpful.
ОтветитьWe are in Kuala Lumpur, on a 19th floor and it has bars at the entrance of the apartment and on the balcony, with three security guards at the entrance of the building who do not allow Grab to enter the lobby.
ОтветитьWell I am in Kuala Lumpur now and I am surprised to see security bars on my 19th Floor Balcony, with 3 security Guards on the ground floor, that do not allow your Grab (Uber) to drive in to drop you off at the lobby. But you damping sh*t on Latin Americans as if Malaysia is the 5th Marvel of the wold!
ОтветитьSe asia
Latin America is dangerous anti Gringo
And no place is as cheap
Thanks for your perspective...I'm finding it very helpful. One thing I didn't hear mentioned (maybe it was...I didn't watch the last few minutes) was proximity to the US and cost to travel back and forth. I'm interested in rotating between a home base in the US and my retirement destination, perhaps several times per year. My initial impression is that when you factor in 2-3 flights per year, it might be easier and less expensive to go to South America vs. Asia, all else being equal. I'd love to see something on the cost of airfare and how that factors into your plans.
ОтветитьAny reason why your background is not the beach? You could have just turned around and we will be seeing the beach as the background.
ОтветитьThis is so helpful! Thank you for comparing both places. We have been torn between the two, but have been gravitating towards SE Asia. Thank you for addressing so many of our questions and concerns. Happy Travels!
ОтветитьI think safety is the huge plus for SE Asia….
But for us, Latin America has proximity to the US, a language we speak, and cities with cool weather. We plan to live in San Cristobal de las Casas, Antigua n Lake Atitlan, Matagalpa Nicaragua, Manizales Colombia, and Arequipa Peru. If we feel safe and healthcare seems ok, we will likely stay in one of these…..but who knows where life will take us.
Great video !
As a Canadian living in Southeast Asia for 20 years I concur, but I haven't travelled much in Latin America so I may be a little biased.
ОтветитьOh and the food in Peru 🇵🇪 is much better than the Philippines 🇵🇭 not even close
ОтветитьI don't understand why consider retiring in other countries when you can retire in your own country anytime???
ОтветитьAnyone who thinks its all hard work and dieting to get a great figure are smoking crack. So many things figure in BUT at the end of the day, genetics take top prize. All you have do do is turn on a tv in the winter and watch beefy 5’11 210 pound girls running up and down the floor for three hours a day. Then look at that young lady, who by the looks of it is not a rookie by the way she handled that bottle of Red Horse and she certainly wasn’t breaking training when she was scarfing down fries and burger’s. You are a lucky man. She is a stunner.
ОтветитьI think your generalizing when you say you need a bar on the windows? Latin America is many countries I never had a bar on the window in Peru 🇵🇪?
Ответить13 dollars a night for an apartment in Kuala Lumpar in Airbnb. I'm sorry but I don't think that's correct.
ОтветитьHow can you compare SE asia vs Latin America? That is completely ridiculous
First of all what do you call LATIN AMERICA? There is NORTH, CENTRAL & SOUTH america
How can you compare SE Asia as a group of countries? Thailand is completely different to the philippines
Malaysia is way different to South Korea
Singapore has nothing to be compared to Indonesia
Indonesia, Malaysia and the philippines only can be compared by the geographical zone they share (also historically)...awful upload
Your girl is really attractive, lucky guy
ОтветитьAce!
ОтветитьI'm a native of Panama who now lives in Canada. Generally speaking, you are pretty safe in the countryside of either continent. However, the city experience is a whole different beast. There is anxiety with the nightlife that I simply never experienced in the Philippines at any hour (and I've been to many cities in Luzon and Mindanao). I hear the same from many expats who live in Thailand.
ОтветитьSE Asia
ОтветитьAlso, if there was a good response to last time you had me on, I'd love to come on the channel again if the mood strikes you...
Just got back from 6 weeks all over Portugal and I stayed in 12 hostels and took trains and buses all over the country. I have EXCELLENT hostel choices in Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Lagos, Evora, and more!
I know Portugal is exploding in popularity right now, so I thought I'd mention it.
Cheers you guys!,
Scott
nice to see you guys! I'm back in Cusco!
ОтветитьGood to know... thank you very much from Vancouver
ОтветитьIf you're male and white, irrespective of wealth, class or education, nothing beats Southeast Asia.
ОтветитьMy personal experience relates to what you are saying. SE Asia has Latin America beat on many things: cheaper food and accommodations, cheaper flights within the continent, personal safety i.e. was robbed in Central America.
ОтветитьI lived in Brasil, and the crime is off the charts. Personal integrity is in short supply down there. Asia is clearly safer.
ОтветитьI been traveling in Latin America for last 2 years, I only had one pick pocketing in Cancun Mexico, and was my own fault because I lower my guard and didn’t wear my money built and got pick pocketed. Never that happened in SE Asia
ОтветитьI agree! Except maybe in Vietnam...a lot of bars on windows...and parts of the Philippines.
ОтветитьLatin America has way better music, better dancers, potentially hotter girls(depending what u r into) also more of a similar culture to Western society, but yeh, I love both..
Ответитьsoutheast asia is a better choice than latin america for ex-pats when it comes to crime: scams vs armed robberies. simple as that
ОтветитьI decided to retire in Quito, Ecuador. Flying time back to Miami is 4 hours. Flying time to SE Asia is much longer. I have lived in SE Asia and really like it but I like living in the Andes Mountains more. Living at 10,000 feet in Spring-like weather year-round is just perfect for me. I agree with your points and I like your analysis. Keep up the good work, guys!
ОтветитьGreat overall comparison, thank you.
ОтветитьPlease do a thorough video on Saipan (US territory)
ОтветитьGood Video with excellent info Dan, and your video scenes were beautiful. Philippines looks amazing! Maybe you can do a video on how inflation is affecting SE Asia and/or Latin America since the US is getting slammed with inflation. Maybe also a comparison of living on beaches in each. Thanks for your fine work!
Ответитьthese guys are good!
ОтветитьSounds like Southeast Asia pitched a shutout over Latin America, and based on my personal experience in both regions, I would 100% agree with your assessment. Even if the advantage is a small in many categories, overall it becomes a notable and decisive advantage.
Ответить"South America or SE Asia" is the same question I'm thinking about when will retire (20 years). Both have then benefits/downsides. But definitely one of these places in the world are the best to retire.
