I have tried to buy a Rolex for a while now. When I finally had the guts (and the money) all the watches at ADs were for exhibition only. A couple of weeks ago I visited an AD once more and a member of staff told me that they had one Oyster Perpetual Datejust available. I took it. Finally.

Waited so long at the AD and kept on being offered other watches not on my list that I lost interest completely. Managed to get a few in grey market at just below retail. All the hype caused by cyrpto babies flipping is disappearing fast. Rolex have also entered the secondary market so more supply will drive down prices. Its Economics 101 supply vs demand stuff.

My advice having purchased half a dozen Rolex's from the same AD, develop a relationship with a jeweler who is also an AD and buy your Wive's gifts there so you are building purchase history. NEVER, EVER, buy stuff you dont want to build a 'relationship.' Period. If you buy, it doesnt guarantee you anything and you have no recourse if they still wont sell you the watch you want. BUT if you are buying a birthday gift for the Mrs. anyway, you may as well kill two birds.

Two tone gmt might be the best looking gmt. I personally like the OP over a datejust. I have an explorer Ii and I honestly think it is the best Rolex. It cost less than a sub and has the same movment as the gmt master

The way the salesman laughs if a person asks for a Daytona, is the way I laugh when I hear that people want to buy a Rolex. It is one of the worst watch brands to have on your wrist. Ps: they pretend to be exclusive, but make millions of watches each year. Is like pretending to be a Pagani, but you are a VW Golf.

I would never buy anything from a seller with such contempt for a potential customer. Rolex sucks as a brand and the AD are the worst.

It's sickening that we have to kowtow and spoil the AD when we are the ones that's giving them business and profits. I can not wait for this market to crash and have them begging people to buy their overpriced watches again just like the good old days.

It is a repugnant concept to have to beg for the "privilege" of buying one of these watches -- which you then have to worry about some dirtbag hitting you over the head and ripping it off your wrist. No thanks. Nice watches, but not the best by far. I'll take an Omega Seamaster or Speedmaster, Grand Seiko anything, Glashutte Original Sea Q, etc. over any of these Blowlexes.

I wanted to buy a Rolex so much a couple of years ago but the models I wanted were very hard to find that time. I saved more money and ended up buying a Vacheron Over seas blue dial. Couldn’t be happier. Will next go for a JLC reverso after a couple of years. Rolex case reminds me of a situation when u r absolutely crazy about someone at one time but when u get over that person then u r like wdf why was I sooo into that person 😆

Fun fact: When I asked my AD for a Pepsi, I was treated quite rudely and he could barely hold back his laughter. (The whole experience that day was bad though.) So I went to another AD in another city and was treated exceptionally well there, even though I was a new customer. But probably one of the rare cases where you have more success as a new customer than as an existing customer.

Any gold combo is rather easy to get because they’re not sought as much. Rolex “beginners” always go for steel 🤷🏻‍♀️ I got my TT black sub in just over 4 weeks. They had a blue in stock but I found it too flashy on my wrist. It is gorgeous though.
My last Datejust I had made the configuration on the website. I wanted it exactly in that particular set up. Production time was estimated at circa 6 months, it arrived in 3. So if you decide to order one, have the money ready, it could arrive much faster than expected. I love that thing and it is the one getting most wear, so do only get the one you want and don’t settle. Settling at that price point is ridiculous.

Was at a dealer in Sweden like 2 years ago with a friend that is totally comitted to Rolex. We walked inte the store and he just yelled "this guy wanna buy a Rolex!". The dealer asked me wich one I want, I told him "submariner". They didn't had it in stock, but he suggested me to buy some other modell like yacht master or datejust. Now I have changed my mind and want a GMT-master II, thank god their stock sucks.

The best advice is the part about how to ask your Rolex AD about buying a watch. It's a good primer for first-time buyers so they won't be surprised by the dealer's snarky response if they dare to ask them about purchasing a watch. My salesperson was very polite and tactful about it, but he let me know pretty quickly that the watches only go to their best customers.

Just buy the watch you really want on the grey market instead of a bunch of crap ones you don't really like from the AD.

I picked up that Submariner No Date at my local AD nestled in quiet fancy suburb in NJ. Took only 2 months to get call that they had one and I didn't buy anything else. I owned preowned Rolex in past but wanted this watch new and clean from AD.

I was walking by the Rolex AD yesterday and they were putting out a Submariner No Date in the window. That agrees with what you said.

I don't understand that "Rolexmania" of fake people, eager to impress friends they don't have, or relatives or neighbours they hate. For the price of a Rolex, you can have an endless list of remarkable and impressing list of watch makers with a History or not....personnaly I enjoyed a Breitling, a Glycine, an Orient or an impressive Pagani Design GMT of 120 euros. Go for a Steinhart GMT, a Tudor, or a Laco. Do not put yourself the slave of a waiting list ....of global elite criminals.

Serve the Rolex AD with a lawsuit for discrimination and I guarantee you will have the rolex you want as soon has they're served the paperwork.

People have been sucked into the whole Rolex racket, its not a watch they want as much as the snob appeal - rich elitists will pay anything to flaunt something they have that you cant get - if I had ten million dollars I wouldnt buy a Rolex. First all as nice as the craftsmanship is ive seen them taken apart and good as they are theyre not THAT good, certainly not for the insane prices they command.

If I have the money, and they won't sell me the watch I want, I'm damn sure not spending my money on something else they will sell me.

I just refuse to play the Rolex dog and pony show game. Either sell me a watch or don't. So Ill just walk into a Zenith dealer and they'll be glad to sell me anything I want and it will likely be cheaper and better than what Rolex was going to sell me anyway. Rolex has completely lost its brand cred the the last 5-10 years and has become little more than a Gucci handbag for wrist flexers. This once-proud brand is nothing like it used to be...an attainable luxury watch for the working man. Tudor is what Rolex used to be.

Or…or…go buy watches from other brilliant brands. You are buying a luxury product which has significant mark ups/profits for all parties involved and you shouldn’t have to grovel to someone to have the chance to buy a 10k-30k watch.

Other brands and their AD treat their customers like luxury buyers and it’s a very good and memorable experience especially if you are buying a special watch.

If you really still have that Rolex itch, VSF and CF make reps at 500-600 dollars that even an AD won’t be able to identify without opening the case.

Don’t give your hard earned money to snobs who don’t want your business.

I have an amazing idea! Why not pick out a watch you want and buy that watch rather than attempting to understand the mechanics behind the supply & demand at an authorized dealer?

The thick bezels of Rolex and Seiko don't appeal to me at all. They look bloated.

Not to mention that all the cheap Chinese companies have copied the Rolex style to death, to the extent that you can find that design on the wrist of almost every street thug in every corner of any city. Whenever I see thick bezels, I think "broke stoner", not "classy".
