Emergency response at World Scout Jamboree in S. Korea due to heatwave

Many scouts from my country, Belgium, attended the event and had to pay 3500 EUR ! That's an extravagant amount for a trip that should cost no more than 1000 EUR, flights included.
I have seen the budget details and come to the conclusion that only 25% of the income was spent on infrastructure and basic necessities. The other 75% went into the pockets of corrupt civil servants who have wasted it on personal pleasure trips or just added it to their bank account. That's money stolen from children !
The least the Korean government can do is to give ALL children who attended a FULL refund. If they want to save the reputation of their country, that is.

I know the parents of young French scouts who were in South Korea. They adapted quickly enough to the hot and humid weather, they were provided with all the necessary equipment. The welcome was very good, everyone remained positive, it’s a quality of the scouts, it’s sad that it ends like that.

I think it shouldn't hold an international competition in Korea Please disqualify me from hosting the international competition. I feel as a resident there that we don't deserve to hold an international competition. In Korea, K-pop is covering up the bad points

Everyone in Korea who’s involved this huge worldwide event wanted to grab some money without thinking kids’ safety. Otherwise u don’t sell bottles of water under the heatwave.

The Korean government actually allocated more than 85 million dollars to the Saemangeum area in Jeollabuk-do, which is equivalent to a state. There is a need for an investigation into the utilization of these funds. The residents of this region have the highest crime rate in Korea and are involved in Korean politics. Many Koreans also hold negative sentiments towards the people residing in Jeollabuk-do. It's a place that is generally disliked by Koreans. Due to political issues and Korean laws, the government is unable to take substantial actions or penalize the chief officer responsible for the Jamboree.

Trying to shift the focus to the heat wave instead of the unorganized event and ill equipped camp is a disgrace. Shame on you Korea and shame on everyone who tries to justify the unjustifiable.
Korea should step up to it's responsibility until the safe return of our children. Korea turned out to be so primitive and should be banned from organizing any events in the future. Their poor settings and unorganized event has put the well being of the children at risk. I regret sending my child and put in the wrong hands.

FACTS: It cost $5,800 USD per kid to attend this event. Korea had 6 years and over $1.5M for making this event a success.

As a Korean, I feel deeply embarrassed and speechless. I feel so sorry for the children who came from faraway countries, paying a hefty sum of money, and I believe all those responsible for organizing this event should be held accountable. The disgrace this international event has brought upon our country weighs heavily on my heart, fearing that these children may leave with only negative memories about Korea😢

I feel sorry for your situation. Jeolla-do, the province where you are currently staying in, is a region that is infamous for its cartelized and corrupt society. The cartel of the local government and interest groups are taking advantage of the Jamboree event by sucking up the central government budget. They received almost 25M USD from the central government but did nothing, as you witness. It is so unfortunate that you guys are experiencing Jeolla-do, the premodern and near-feudal region of South Korea. I apologize for the whole mess.
