Morris Day on Why Prince Tried to Stop Him from Performing ‘The Bird’ Dance

Wow the band needed a drummer and in comes Morris,the band needed a lead singer along comes Morris some things are just meant to be.

What comes around goes around. I was the emcee for one of the Rick James/Prince tour shows. I followed the tour closely and I saw Prince evolve into Rick James on this tour. The joke has always been that Prince was the Midwest version of Rick James. Personally, I have always preferred Rick James' music so much over Prince. Prince exploded when MTV wanted revenge against Rick for exposing them as Racist. To spite Rick they played Prince non-stop on MTV. The funny thing was Pince never stood up to them and said you have to play music by the Time as well.
MTV played scarry culture Club but no Black acts until CBS threatened to pull all their White artists off the air if they did not play Michael Jackson. MTV is so lame now nobody watches it. But in the *0's it made musical careers.

That was Bryant jr. high school in Minneapolis in the sixties…predominantly black neighborhood at the time. Washburn high school on the other side of town was predominantly white.
