Thanks for this tutorial. One question about Gradient Mapping, wondering if this is just a problem on my end.
Before plugging the grayscale into the color gradient, I have to clamp the grayscale to min 0,01 and max 0,99, else the white and black color blend into one.
This problem only occur with textures, if I use a Linear Gradient node there is no need to clamp.

Great Video! I have a question regarding the Pixelation technique, wouldn't it be less performant compared to a base texture thats already pixelated? The engine would still be loading the same resolution image but the math in the material is adjusting it in realtime right? I guess the benefit would be the ability to adjust the look in engine?

I think you mean pixel rather than vertex in example 1

Awesome video! I usually use Curve atlases and LUTs for my gradient mapping, you can make the gradients within UE then

Hi I have one question. when you do freelance vfx for game. Normally will you hand over all the files?
I mean in normal vfx work for film the fx usually got baked by camera angle so technically it can not be reused afterward.
But how with game vfx? I'm just concern about client gonna reuse the fx without paying anything

very nice video, ive been exploring distance field based generative shapes in shaders lately and i didnt know the sphere mask was a default node xD

Regarding the last point: Is it more performant to have the texture in place in that case or to manipulate the dynamic material params at runtime?
