The biggest problem would be the lack of minimum hygiene and safety management. Despite the huge budget invested in it. Most of that budget would have gone into the pockets of South Korean politicians. All the participation fees that the children of the participating countries worked hard for over a year and earned were wasted. Korea ruined the dreams and efforts of children. By the way, none of the Korean participants got heatstroke.
Because the Korean team could not endure the poor environment and quickly withdrew and evacuated to a comfortable hotel.

Despite the favorite reports from the friendly US presses, the Korean Jamboree 2023 has been a total failure. As Korean descent and former scout, I feel even guilty to the participants and the parents. It was not just heat temperature issue. Rather it was artificial disaster that amounts to wanton reckless faults or at least gross negligence by the organizers who absolutely failed to take reasonable measures to prevent accidents, budgets and messed amenities. (with almost 90 millions of cash budgets, and they even paid $6500 for each person, are you kidding?) I am deeply disappointed and pissed up. I strongly recommend Scout federation and the parents install tort suit of international class action against the Korean organizers including the central government.

I wouldn't go to Korea or Asia during summer. Nuff said. But, "sanitary conditions, toilets, food scarcity etc." When did the scouts learn to complain about that??? Overcoming is part of the real camping and scout experience. So far, haven't seen a single scout complain about that in the woods till now. Adults are the real problem.

As a Korean I am beyond embarrassed. Every day we get emergency texts telling us to refrain from outside activites due to the heat wave, and for an international event to be handled like this is appalling. I hope all the participants can get the help they need to return back safely as soon as possible. This whole incident needs to go through a thorough investigation.

I am Korean. It's really embarrassing and disgraceful. Notify everyone in the world.The organization that organized the competition is an administrative agency of the Korean government. Their sins are our sins. It is because it is the people's duty to elect the right person in charge, but the people of the Republic of Korea have failed to fulfill that role. The Korean government actually allocated more than 85 million dollars to the Saemangeum area in Jeollabuk-do, which is equivalent to a state. There is a need for an investigation into the utilization of these funds. The residents of this region have the highest crime rate in Korea and are involved in Korean politics. Many Koreans also hold negative sentiments towards the people residing in Jeollabuk-do. It's a place that is generally disliked by Koreans. Due to political issues and Korean laws, the government is unable to take substantial actions or penalize the chief officer responsible for the Jamboree.

A congress member already pointed out the problems 10 month ago, but the minister who is in charge of the Jamboree has done nothing.

South korean responsibles used the money for the organization to international travels and paying for luxury experiences. You need to push skorean government to admit their failure and to blame the ones who pocketed money and didnt took serious to organize efficiently rhis massive international event!!! Shame on the organizers and the sk gov !!!!

I am deeply embarrassed with this stupidity for which Korean government is responsible.

The people of the world need to know that the Jeolla-do region of South Korea is regarded as North Korea. Corrupt politicians in the region are suspected of having links to communism in Korea. They were aimed at riding the Government budget, and were not interested in this event. They want to cause social disruption whenever a liberal democratic party is in power. They want the government to do as wrong as possible, and the president to be impeached as a result.

American who has lived in Korea for a decade. The government here is beyond incompetent - even more than that in the U.S. believe it or not. There could be actual fatalities and the Korean government would act innocent, deflect all responsibility, and face zero consequences. Hell Joseon.
