You forget warner shelved three movies last year for tax purposes, batgirl, a scooby doo movie and one other, those tax breaks could have aided in part for them to pay back the debt.

To quote a wise hobbit: he's the villian. Why would i spend my time watching a wretched thing.

Why would Jackson produce this, unless desperation to stay relevant in a universe he loves, or the $bag was too big to ignore. Andy Serkis will direct just tells me they are not taking this as serious as Studios used to do, this is not a negative on Serkis, but what body of work of direction does he have? Regardless, this is unnecessary and just aligning with the abomination of Amazon's Rings of Power.

My reaction to this is one part "noooo" and one part *sigh*.

It can only be garbage pseudo LotR, or a mid fantasy story. They are incapable of making truly great LotR now because of their marxist politics.

I think Warner Brothers like the Dwarves of Khazad-dum are delving too deep and greedily with Tolkien's work. A movie about the search for Gollum seems more like a side quest that really doesn't need to be explained. If WB were serious, they'd get the movie rights to the Silmarilion and let Jackson and his team develop movies or shows based off those stories. They'd also have to let them off the DEI chain so they get as close as possible to what Tolkien created.

I went about 12 hours of not hating everything and now this. Someone in either Middle-earth Enterprises (Tolkien Enterprises), or the family, or both has been loosed to create this deviltry. I'm assuming it comes from Christopher Tolkien's death. He must have been the last person with respect for the legendarium with creative and licensing control.
