This is an old review, but I wanted to hear it because I have an RP501. I love my piano - and your review - but I have to say that the Piano Partner 2 app is an enormous disappointment. Despite countless efforts to get it to work -- restoring my piano to factory settings, using the manual, using info that Roland sent me via their support site -- it simply won't connect or work. Once -- and only for one day -- I was able to get it to work and it opened up many possibilities for me. Based on reviews on both the Google Play store and the Apple App store, I am not alone. This is a dreadful app; basically worthless. Roland should let all Roland owners use their most current app, but they won't put in the time or effort to make it compatible. From time to time I try again, unwilling to accept defeat, but now I'm just giving up on that app. I have Pianoteq and many other resources, so I'll accept and love what I have. But Roland should be ashamed.
Ответитьfrom the first seconds of this video - this machine is my dream, Roland is the Best!!!
ОтветитьI reckon this piano was released around 5 years ago. Does it still make sense to buy in 2022 now? Or to buy Yamaha YDP 164/165. I would also want some tones to play around with.
ОтветитьGreat review. Am thinking of buying this one. Does it need to have a optical out that I can connect to some speakers, or is that not needed?
ОтветитьWhat's the different bw rp102 and 502..?
ОтветитьHey man, Im using Yamaha p125b for over a year now, should I consider upgrading it to this. (Also, Im an intermediate pianist)
Ответитьfirst of all I subscribe to you and bought based on your recommendation. The pros
1 Amazing sound and quality, Companies like Roland and Yamaha are good at making high end and middle of the road pianos but they mias on the entry level, until now.
I just picked it up today and with a veteran discount,
it was $1730 out the door. For a piano under $2,000 you can’t ask for mor. It has plenty of instruments or variations, over 300 and biolt in beats for different genrw. It is also bluetooth comparable.
I felt the need to write a review for anyone who is considering purchasing the piano. Roland and Yamaha use weighted keys and hammer action so it mimics playing on an acoustic piano The advantage of digital is you save $300 a year on piano tuning. The reason why I bought it at Southern Nevada music is because I have a a year to trade uo, without losing value.
To be courteous to my neighbors, i put on the headphones at night.
This piano is ideal for the beginner or someone who teaches piano, like me. if I am happy with it and I am a piano snob
who studied in Vienna, it is good enough foe you. caveat even entry level rolland and yamaha and Piano Las are expensive and this piano is close to $1,800 US. What you pay for is what you get. I am so happy i returned ky Krog G1
not having graded key resistance is brutal. this is not a good keyboard to use. the highest note has the exact same feel as the lowest key.
ОтветитьYour reviews are always the best, relevant and credible. If I lived in Canada I would be doing business with you.
Ответитьkawai kdp 110 & rp 500 better???
ОтветитьHey Stu. Did you ever release the second video where you just play the 501r? Thanks.
ОтветитьIn the review the initial piano tone seems horrible. So how was it recorded? I suspect that the mics aren't well placed in this review, or else the speakers or speaker mountings are rubbish. And why no line output testing too? Well it seems there are no line outputs. No USB either. Yes I know, there's bluetooth.
Stu mentions great treble and bass. Hmm, does this bass/treble excellence mean poor mid tones and mid notes? Maybe Stu can't say that. Guys, creating/reproducing warm but vibrant notes in the centre of those 88 notes is a big issue - one of the greatest challenges in dp manufacture you might say. My advice is, don't buy this piano without trying it. If it works for you, great. I already doubt it could work for me.
Can you connect more than one Bluetooth device at a time
Ответитьsorry to be a spoilsport but the PHA-4 is not (and already was not when this video was created) Roland's second best keyboard action.
The best action was (and is) the "Hybrid Grand action" followed by the PHA-50 as second best.
Depending on if the "PHA-4 Concert" and PHA-4 Premium" where still produced in 2019 they would have been the third best actions.
This means that the "PHA-4 Standard" could have been considered 4th best action or the one at the lowest end of the line.
So calling the PHA-4 the second best action was misleading in 2019 as it is still misleading today.
Oh, and another thing: the PHA-50 does not at all have a wood core as you say in the video.Instead
the keys are made of plastic with only thin plates of wood at their sides. But no wood CORE...
Yamaha YDP-164 or Roland RP501 or F140 ? Preference - Key Action & Realistic Piano sound
ОтветитьToo little playing. And no comment on the samples(
ОтветитьI am confused between kawai kdp 110, Roland Rp 501r and Yamaha Ydp 164. Could you please give suggestions. Considering Sound, Action and features.
ОтветитьGreat review, certainly a lot more positive than JPS's. Question: How do you specify instrument-to-midi channel assignments so that you can play back a multi-channel midi file through the Roland rp-501 using the instrument you selected on each midi channel?
ОтветитьI bought this one today. :) ask me anything.
ОтветитьWhen you use the output jack in the back for external speakers (or subwoofer), do internal speakers still produce sound? or internal speakers sound is turned off?
ОтветитьI own an FP30. Great piano. Does this have a significant improvement in sound with the slightly larger wattage? Are the speakers also facing downward like the FP30? Thanks 😊
ОтветитьGreat review - thank you.
ОтветитьWhich output should i use to connect it to external speakers?
ОтветитьThis is very good review channel, the more I watch, I learn more about different brands and their signatures. Thanks Stu.
ОтветитьThank you Stu. Excellent review. I just about to start learning piano and Im looking to buy a digital piano but I had no clue about what was good or not. After your review I feel I really can’t go wrong with The RP501R. Thank you again it was really informative and enjoyable. Sean
ОтветитьTwo words: Digital output!
ОтветитьHow can I use piano strings tone 1 piano tone 2 strings without using the app?
ОтветитьVery good review👍🏼 this made me decide on this one! Though the piano used looks sooo dusty😄 it looks much better IRL🤓
ОтветитьHi, such a good review:) How do we compare rp501 with f140r? since they are in quite similar price range, and all the parameters all almost same, the only obvious difference I can tell is f140r looks more slim than 501, but for sounds/tone/sound effect, how to compare them?
ОтветитьThank you for this review. Yesterday I checked the sound of Yamaha p-125/515, Roland FP-30, F-140R and this one RP501R, and the new casio PX-S- 3000 (dont like the keys). I was amazed by the Roland sound and touch. I started piano 2 month ago, I live in Japan and have the incredible chance to have next door to me Yamaha's n.1 piano demonstrator, so I have the chance to learn on a real grand piano with the best Yamaha sells man in Japan as a teacher ( great friend) . But..... I really think Roland sound and key touch for this price is incredible. Thanks again for this video.
ОтветитьInformative and entertaining! Considering purchasing this piano so this was very helpful :)
