These are all the basic items. This will help you until you get to the Atlus Plateau, but Rock Sling is not gonna help you there. Also i have the Snow Witch Hat on and my Icecraig spell still doesnt do any damage at level 80 with 65 intelligence. I had 1000 hours on PC then I came back recently to get destroyed. They definitely nerfed the mage class recently. I just want to switch to Faith because my damage output is depressing even with Terra Magicka. Ive never lost The Draconic Tree Setinel and now I cant even beat him, lol

That might be fine for hybrid mages, but my pure mages cast spells that LOOK like spells and nothing else. Don't care if the damage is better.

You gotta slow down a bit I gotta pause and figure out where everything is and you already know where it is

This is a really nice guide, i just want to cut it down "a bit" for people who simply want a good start:
Choose wretch, just run and get the Meteorite Staff and Stone Fling, go to the shack in northern Limgrave and easily kill the 3-4 giants with Stone Fling.
Rinse and repeat -> many, many runes -> level up int (and some vigor/mind) quickly and buy all the starter stuff you want 😁

P.S.: You should get at least the glintstone single spell(s) quickly, because while Stone Fling does a ton of damage it's not good for "normal" enemies.

Edit: Ok, i effed up a bit. It was a while ago and i forgot you need 18 int for the staff and spell. So i guess Astrologer with 16 int and the two spells is a "bit" easier 😅

Took me over 50 attempts but I finally farmed the sword from the manor! I legit got 10 levels or so while farming for the sword. In comparison I beat the manor boss in 3 tries. This guide has been immensely helpful to a longtime gamer but first time souls player. 💯😁

People think slinging the same spells is boring but it is no different then the same sword slash over and over, it just seems to be different when in fact it is the same

Did 3/4 of this video minus the silly spells from the wizard in like 2.5 hours went to go fight godrick beat him on first try then went to kill the boss at the bottom of castle morne and beat him. 2 bosses in like 10 minutes

This and the follow up are really helpful. My friend tried to talk me out of starting the game as a mage, and while I've definitely run into issues (like running out of FP and flask uses midway through exploring Stormveil Castle) this guide has really set me up to feel solid. I'm still under level 40 but I've gotten to Raya Lucaria and passed the first boss, so progress is swift!
