Very disapointed. Let Tik Tok be Tik Tok and let instagram what it what meant for: PHOTOGRAPHY. As a user that enjoy photography I think the changes are poor and people will move away. Influencers will finally have to sell crap between each others

So now lets start posting videos on IG feed ..? I wonder how it will favorite it compared to videos on reels...🤔?

Basically, if you're an artist or photographer, you are screwed.
We don't do video. Period.

What a load of shit. “Not a photo sharing app”. Why would you change an app to copy a different one which would lose its individuality.

Insta at it again copying everyone else .... late. Kinda sucks for those that actually PREFER looking at photos. I post photos but also like looking at them - stìll not reels fan and def not IGTV fan. It's a shame the photo app will be shoving photos to the back of the bus!

IG shopping still seems clunky but I’m glad they’re going to refine it. I’ve tried shopping in app but many products’ links are broken or the pricing is different than what’s in IG, so they really need to work on that. Also, they’re only allowing business owners to sell from their website and not a third party sites like Amazon Merch, KDP, Red Bubble so it’s pretty limiting still.

Just to clarify, videos as in reels, or IGTV, or in-feed videos? Or all of the above? I get pretty good engagement with reels now but IGTV and in-feed videos seem kind of dead rn… 🤷🏻‍♀️

Two reasons I stay(ed) on Instagram: photos in the feed and stories. Two things they want to discourage: photos in the feed and stories...

I think the pictures on Instagram have faded popularity because not everyone is a photographer with the perfect lighting or hours to edit the composition of ONE photo using 5 different apps. TikTok know what's up and everyone is following. I think videos allow up and coming influencers to have a chance at growth bc they grab attention really quick where as photos just aren't going viral anymore unless it's a celebrity or professional looking picture.

These are big changes. Does this mean that with time, creators won't be able to upload photos?

In all honesty, I’d say Instagram is going to loose more users than they already have. Influencers and their sheep will stay, normal users will all move away.

These are BIG changes, but I'm excited about it!! I think it's great that they're prioritizing video. It's another outlet for growth.

Wow so how are we to decide what goes to stories and what video gets posted? Currently I tend to post pictures and story my videos.

Just to know about 'sharing foto/videos' which in future it may restricted - it does mean our own fotos/video also shall not be shared between our own different Ig? ( let say if i have two or three igs)

It sounds like it hasn't been clarified yet whether the photos we've already posted will be gone once those changes happen and if the capability to post photos will be removed altogether, and that would be my biggest concern. Even if I do embrace the changes and lean into video, it would be heartbreaking to lose everything I've posted over the years and NEVER be able to share another in-feed photo.

Creatives want to focus on creating their work, not vlogging all the time. Hours spent editing footage are hours subtracted from studio time.

I think it’s a great idea especially for content creators like myself. It will definitely bring growth and more followers.

What I don’t like is the fact that IG is pushing towards video content and shifting from video. It should at least maintain the photo sharing and also incorporate video. What I love about IG is the fact that it emerged as a photo sharing app and it stood out. Content creators are all about aesthetics so I’m really interested to see how the app will look.

Wow, those are big changes ! I know a lot of photographers who are not necessarily videographers, and several people are on the platform for the photos. Looks like Instagram wants to copy TikTok, period! I'm not sure if it's a good idea, the photo remains an easy and accessible way for many companies. Will see... Will have to adapt.

Hi there, I would like to know what you think about all these changes. I do message friends and follow on Instagram and look at shopping however, I don't shop through Instagram. I still don't think it's safe to do so.

Will we still be able to share photos? Or will it be like TikTok with videos only?

I’m about to hit 10k any day on Instagram. I’m excited because I’ve built a legit and wholesome following. I can’t keep up with all these changes though. Lol. Seems like there’s a new change every other day.

I would love for IG to fix the way IG Reels look on the feed!! Like the little square is so ugly and if it's an IG Reel, it should show in your timeline as such!!!! Grrrrr!!! rant over lol
