Before Coloumbo there was MAAAXXX!!!
Ответитьat the end of the clip, lemon should have said "manure,,I hate manure"
Ответить12 seconds per mile is 300 mph.
ОтветитьMy Favorite Movie with Jack Lemon any Day 😁😁
ОтветитьThis movie was brilliant, and the pie fight? Quite possibly the best in film history.
ОтветитьNone of the extras knew the engine would go off as loud as it did. So, their reactions are genuine.
ОтветитьClearly, the Professor Fate character was based upon Glenn Curtiss.
ОтветитьLooks like Professor Fate is a first wingsuiter. He is a very brave person.
ОтветитьIf they ever were to remake this (with practical effects and no politics, I would LOVE to play professor Fate!)
ОтветитьI love Jack Lemmon's cackle of triumph as must as I love his shriek of despair when it all goes wrong...
ОтветитьApart from the extremely funny scenes of Prof. Fate, I consider him a genius and very courageous, not a coward. He does not only try to sabotage Leslie, but also does his own experiments, inventions and breathtaking stunts outside of the automobile race. Just think of his rocket sled shown in this scene. He tries to break the speed world record over one mile (1609 meters) in only 12 seconds. Despite he takes off unvoluntarily, he gets really fast. I have calculated the numbers using the physics formulae for acceleration and got that in order to achieve his goal, he must have an acceleration of 22.35 m/sec (2.278 g) and after 12 seconds reach 965 km/h. This speed was first reached in WW 2 by e.g. the Messerschmitt Me 163 rocket interceptor and (sometimes in sink flight) by the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter.
ОтветитьAin’t that reality? You’re dying high in life but you forget to add wings 😮
Ответитьthis might well be the funniest movie of all time, i almost died laughing when i first watched it 45 years ago, my kids loved it 25 years later, and i still get belly aches when i watch it nowadays, simply a masterpiece by the best director of comedies ever, blake edwards, genius…
ОтветитьHilarious film with a terrific cast of actors and actresses ! Seeing this clip, I noticed that when Max lit the rocket to start, the sound was identical to the old Batman TV series Batmobile starting 😳 up ! I've never noticed it before, and I've seen this movie about 12 times !
ОтветитьWell, there's another one Leslie can try on for size!
ОтветитьProfessor Fate forever...
ОтветитьDick Dastardly of The Wacky Racers was based on Professor Fate.
ОтветитьЯ.тоже.сумашедший.как.профессор
ОтветитьOne thing this movie has that adds to the hilarity is the use of WB cartoon sound effects. An unbeatable combination.
ОтветитьNot even the cows are phased
ОтветитьI have loved this movie back to when it first came out. Professor Fate rocks 😀
ОтветитьWhy I'm not surprised that happened i mean it happened to willy coyote
ОтветитьIn my humble opinion, this is one of the best movies of all time. I saw it for the 1st time on Boxing Day 1976, and every boxing day since.
ОтветитьI saw this movie in 1965 1st day. It came out great memories.
ОтветитьTime for a remake?
ОтветитьDER BAUER DER GANZ RUHIG SEINE TIERE FÜTTERT IST GRANDIOS
Ответить1 mile in 12 sec. = 5 miles per minute = 300 mph. Not bad for 1908!
ОтветитьThe Great Race airs Wed morning (12:35am CT, Oct. 12, 2022) on Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
Prior to it at 7pm (CT), "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines" (1965), then at 9:30pm (CT) is the funniest film I've ever seen: "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World" (1963). Followed by The Great Race at 12:30am. At 3:30am (CT) is "The Fortune Cookie" (1966) starring Jack Lemmon and his great friend Walter Matthau.
The train thing worked 🚂. They must try again and make a better success
ОтветитьWe need more silly movies like this.
ОтветитьI love how they landed on that guys farm again xD
ОтветитьI was born in 1962 and I thought I was the only one who appreciated this move, via NBC Sunday Night At The Movies on TV.
Professor Fate ROCKS!!!
The joke was all the Professor's inventions were brilliant and worked, just not when he needed them to.
ОтветитьI saw this the Great Race in the theater many years ago. Such a classic and clean comedy. They even updated the pie fight very well. "Push the button Max!" such a great film line. Peter Falk, Jack Lemon, Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood and company were brilliant. I wish they would do some good natured, slapstick like this again.
Ответитьlol
Ответитьpure GOLD. gem of Hollywood.
ОтветитьI had a guy named Max who worked for me and this was a running joke of ours
Ответить🤣😂😅Love The Great Race !!
ОтветитьLooks like Team Rocket's blasting off again! XD
ОтветитьIt looks like team rocket's blasting off again.
ОтветитьThis scene was crazy too
LOL
The little kid in the gray suit disappears when the scene changes to the rocket igniting.
ОтветитьKa-zoom!!!!
ОтветитьThey say that fate and max inspired dastardly and muttley,
Wel the rocket looks kinda like the mean machine.
One mile in 12 seconds means 300mph.
ОтветитьI got to see this one when it was released. I busted a gut laughing. I was 10 years old.
