Halfway through this video, i texted my boss that I was quitting effective immediately. I was experiencing quiet firing and it was time to move on. I knew they would not fire me outright. Things got harder at home also. My health was suffering.
Mental health runs the whole (proverbial) show. I'm glad you are being honest about yourself to your support system and to yourself and sharing with us. Thank you.
😇🙏🏽🙌🏽
ОтветитьIt's a lot harder when you earn 30k a year
ОтветитьMy company has no SOP, running around with our heads cut off, i got grown men making decisions getting hurt, and I get the blame, but they are supposed to be leads of their field, my mental health as already declined to attempted suicide 4 times in my past. Now my thoughts are back. My job can be laid back but there is no overhead to manage this. Everytime I purpose anything, my idea took flight to be shot down minutes later. Don't go into business with anyone boss who says they are about numbers. Today I became -1 after watching your vid.
ОтветитьThank you!!! You speak from the heart and point directly at what I am going through currently!
ОтветитьMost people can't afford to quit but they can usually downsize.........think of the relief❤
ОтветитьYou have wisdom beyond your years. I wish you well with your life !
ОтветитьGood for you
ОтветитьThank you for this
ОтветитьIf you feel better when you start to accept your quitting your job, then it was the job.
Ответитьthanks
ОтветитьGreat video….very helpful….may your journey show great progress
ОтветитьThat video was spot on and very real, cause that is what I am currently going through. Thank you.
ОтветитьContemplating at the six month marker, getting therapy, and going part time 🔑… all steps to closing this chapter of my life 👏 we must prioritize our mental health especially front facing workers . My sleep and my health all matters !
ОтветитьWhat do you say to people who tell you to suck it up and that they call it work for a reason? That's what I get to hear, even though I know I'm in a position that would have driven most of my colleagues to madness in less than a year. I would love to lean into my entrepreneurial pursuits and think about quitting every day. I just know that every couple years I stick it out dramatically reduces the down side via increasing asset cash flow. The thing is, I've demonstrated high level abilities in other fields and know I can make it in a career outside of health care. I just have no time or energy to self-promote, tied to what was until recently a 60 hour plus a week job.
ОтветитьAppreciate the content Julian!
ОтветитьI hope you are still engaged. Women often attach mens value to the current occupation.
ОтветитьI needed this today…. Thank you!
Ответить💯
ОтветитьI'm ready to quit, because I don't feel safe psychologically and spiritually. My job is toxic.
ОтветитьI thought having suicidal thoughts everyday while working a job you hate were normal 😢 I’ve been like that for 4 years
ОтветитьI knew I had to quit when I smashed a glass coffee mug out of frustration of lengthy shifts (11hours) the glass broke and made a massive cut in my ring finger and a decent cut on my palm. My finger was hanging by a thread I took a picture of it to remind myself why I quit the job
Ответить“Purely existing”. Yep, to the point where I don’t really even want to do that anymore. I’ve been at my workplace for almost 30 years and I don’t know how to even start training someone with everything I have to do.
ОтветитьI put in my notice last week. It was one of the scariest things I’ve done as my work ethic has always been strong since I was a teen. It’s been affecting my mental health for a while and I tried to power through and hoped things would get better as I looked for work but then it escalated to physical issues. So I resigned. Everything you felt in this video was what I was going through. Funny thing is within 24 hours of my notice they found 3 people to divide my workload between. I had been telling them it was too much for months and was ignored. My takeaway is “Choose you.” These jobs really dgaf and will use you up as long as you let them.
ОтветитьI have to take time off work some time with my mental health
ОтветитьWow 220 comments and we all have similar stories… how truly sad…. Good workers being crushed… 😭😔😔….
ОтветитьI wish we could sit down and you fill me with confidence…. 23 years in and My work is toxic and I am a chicken shit to leave beyond frustrated at myself… help…
ОтветитьI can relate to your situation so well right now. I know I should be incredibly grateful for the job I have but I have begun to realise that my mood on the days I have to work is far more irritable and depressed than on the days when I have some time off. I am prone to depression and besides irritability and sadness, the next step of depression - for me - is to start fantasizing about d*eath. As a ticket out of all my misery. I am not there yet but I do see my brain trying to take me along on that path. I am mindful enough (now) to stop it from taking me there but soon I won't be. I hope I quit before I become weak.
ОтветитьIve been looking for side hustles and ways of making passive income. Ideally I would love to not have to work for anyone ever again.
ОтветитьI suffer with social anxiety. I've walked out on jobs because I felt so anxious. My longest job has probably been a weekend cleaning job which I did for 10 years. Even though it was only 8 hours a week I found it more stressful than a full time job so I quit a couple of years ago. It's great to have free time.
I work mainly in office jobs but some roles can be demanding. For example I get really anxious if I run into work issues. This means I find it hard to ask for help and just feeling anxious around people.
Thank you for sharing your journey. Subbed. :-)
ОтветитьThank you for making this video.
ОтветитьIsn’t it something that we have to quit our jobs for our mental health . That’s our only way to deal
With it because mental health is not taken care of in this country and many can’t get help they need and this is the best we can do
Very good video. I’m currently really struggling with accepting that it’s time to leave one of my current jobs, which has been my main source of income for the past two years. I believe that there are seasons for everything, but we have to listen to that inner part of ourselves when we know something isn’t right for us anymore.
ОтветитьCurrently working as a soda salesman. And i tell you this is one of the worst working conditions i ever experienced no idea how my father has put up with it for 25 years(60 damn hour work week, only 3 holidays per year, toxic management, exposure to the physical elements) . He did become a manager though but i saw the stress and the time consuming work he does so much so hes getting called at even during non working hours. He tragically died from cancer last year at age 47. Now I got absorbed by the company and only agreed to this shit simply because we're trying to finish the property investment he started. Five more months and I'm out of here. I don't wanna be in my deathbed in regret for not doing more with my life.
Im currently aiming to find remote work in 4 months time. The internet is a vast ocean full of opportunities. Never again will i commute for 3 to 4 hours for a job that i hate and barely keeps you afloat.
Thank you so much for reducing the stigma. We are people not robots! You’re clearly incredibly self-aware. All the best wishes to you.
ОтветитьThank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing your story ☀️
ОтветитьJust resigned 2 days ago😂ready to struggle for a while
ОтветитьThis is 1st world privileged talk. Nobody wants to go to work and work makes everyone stressed lol. New generation are fragile snow flakes.
ОтветитьI know we are in separate fields, but after dedicating several years to the field of Cybersecurity engineering, I have recently taken the decision to step away from my role. Yesterday marked my last day in this capacity. The relentless demands of my job, the daily commute spanning an hour each way, and the regular disruptions to my sleep due to on-call responsibilities had taken a toll on my well-being. Consequently, I found it imperative to prioritize my mental and physical health. Thanks for sharing this video. I don't feel like quitting was a mistake anymore.
ОтветитьIs it sustainable is absolutely what I needed to hear today.
ОтветитьShout out to all the people with 1k or less in their bank account watching this like quitting is an option.
ОтветитьI used to work in parks for over 13 years which was really WAY too long than I should have been there. People think that working in parks is a "fun" job but based on my work experience there, not really because I had some pretty abusive, micromanaging bosses and condescending patrons who often talked down to me. I felt really miserable but that I couldn't quit because I was at the mercy of my job for my health insurance while I was seeing someone for my mental health. Then when the pandemic happened things gradually started to change for me for the better as I had developed a safety net with unemployment after my hours were significantly reduced and being able to enroll in Medicaid as I live in a state that passed Medicaid expansion. So yes, Julian, I too was asking myself in those years working for the parks "how long do you plan on doing this?" - Now I work a much more fitting job where almost everyone respects and appreciates me, albeit there may be a challenge with getting a new boss so I'm trying not to pre-judge her thinking she could make my job more difficult. All in all, with my career path this is all what my late grandfather forecast for me several years back that there will be many twists and turns and that opportunities will arise in the future and to take it one step at a time.
ОтветитьYes, if you think quitting your job to fix your mental health problems sounds like a good idea - You 100% have mental health problems.
ОтветитьOffice Space movie,I am going to get a new one
ОтветитьI work in Healthcare as an RN. I have had two people I knew, who were Nurses as well, commit suicide over the las ten years. The unending, unrelenting, oppressive and depressing work environment crushes your very soul. The issue with quitting is that the opportunities for nurses are not as prevalent as the institutions like colleges lead you to believe. My advise to ANYONE considering becoming a nurse is, DONT !! Unless, you are a Narcissist psychopath that has absolutely no empathy for human life or suffering!
ОтветитьThere's never the right answer, in the end it's your call
ОтветитьThank you. Work Life Balance is necessary.
