Windows 8.1 How to remove unwanted or old printers

the printer just says removing device

my printer keeps saying removing device

These instructions are only half correct. This simply removes the printer from the list of available printers. The driver files for the printer still remain on your hard drive, taking up space. Further, if you need to COMPLETELY remove the printer (for example, if the driver files are corrupted and need to be reinstalled), then these instructions won't fix that.
