Hi there, what about the quality of the image over time? Does the foto last for as long either if printed in the lab or at home? I mean, if I fill an album with photos from the lab and another one from photos from home printer, in 20 years, will they all be equally good? Or will the home printed ones have faded? I am very concerned with that, as I am creating family memories. I own a Brother J1050DW. Is it a good printer for photos? Thank you very much!

Great video. Very informative as I have been trying to figure out the best way to print my drone photos and was having issues with lack of brightness when printed. I will try using the light room icd and proofing tools you mentioned. Thanks so much for putting together this information!

I'm actually a scrapbooker, and this video is super helpful for learning how to print photos for scrapbooking. For some reason, I never thought of increasing the exposure level in editing to compensate for the lack of backlighting in the printed photo. Great video! Thanks!

I not here to troll just to learn and ask questions. I dont understand why I need to increase the contrast of my image if I have calibrated my monitor correctly for print. I then confirm the image is correct by downloading the printers ICC profile. This profile relates to the type of paper etc that I will be making the hard copy upon. This means that what I see on screen is what I will see on the print. Am I missing something?

I hate the whole printing industry! I love prints, but the camera/printer/paper/computer monitor industry is against us. Why? Image size ratio legacy nonsense. Most of the world (other than North America, of course) has accepted and uses ISO standards for paper sizes, neatly based on the ratio Square Root of 2:1. Presumably, printers can print subsets of those standard sizes and ready-made picture frames are available in those sizes. As far as I can tell, no camera manufacturers offer a sensor in that ratio. So no full-frame images from any camera can be printed without cropping on any standard paper. Neither can any computer monitor or television properly display ISO standard print sizes. Wouldn't it be great if everything started out the same shape (creative deviation of course allowed)?

Maybe you have already made a video about this, but I would love to hear your take on this.

Great video Adam
Just started selling prints
Sony sensor is 3:2
Socials are 4:5
Printers do most sizes
Prices jump considerably from A3 to A2 size.
Frames tend to be different sizes again.
Hard thing to make second nature.

I was thinking to crop all pics the way I want it and then add a border big enough to allow me to crop to A4, A3 ratios but then I may have unevenly distributed borders.

Do you stick to specific ratios for your photos and then you know which size to order or do you adjust the photo and then pick the size to match?

For some reason soft proofing adds more blue to the image and when printing it's actually extra orange-ish.

Thanks for the video! I’ve been thinking of printing some of my images and finally took the plunge and used an online photo lab, I wanted to print an image for a relative as a present. I decided to go with a gloss image that I wanted to put in a frame with a glass front. I found that the gloss print reacts with the glass, making smudge like impressions, I spoke to the print lab I used and they told me it was down to the fact I’d used gloss and they told me I should use Matt prints.? I’ve sort of got round it by holding the image away from the glass with card strips round the border, can you tell me if the same happens when using semi-gloss? I don’t really want to compromise on colours so would rather not use Matt! Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated

Hi First man! How are you? I was wondering, how much it cost you to print one image at home ( paper, ink, etc..) compared to one image printed at your local print shop. Let's say A3 format. Did you ever calculate this? Have a good day. Tom
