I own a z4 coupe 3.0si with 83000miles on it , and at the moment is fabulous , I've read all the reports and it's a nightmare waiting to happen , but god she is gorgeous .......😂

I own a Corolla Hybrid and a 17 year old 335i. The Corolla is a solid Appliance that doesn’t need any attention, but I still love my 335i because it is a proper CAR and runs great since it is maintained.

I have a E46 coupe manual with over 100k miles and x5 f15 with over 100k miles and both have no major issues besides normal maintenance. Love BMWs.

Maintenance: replace all the plugs and coils when in there! The engine covers prevent filth from getting all in the coils, plugs, tubes, fuel rail, etc. Just do the maintenance!

Just buy it new and maintain and it will last 20 years easily

i wouldnt wanna drive a bmw till it dies but theyre not unreliable either. get a model with a normal engine, drive it respectfully, do your maintenance, ... and it should last you a good while. obviously dont buy a second hand M model with a big engine that most likely was abused before you bought it. i always buy end of lease contract low mileage bmw's from germany and always had long lasting cars with low depreciation (the first two to three years depreciate the hardest) and no bad surprises. never dared to drive them for longer than 150K miles tho, which is kind of the point where you have to sell if you want to get a decent price out of the sale and right before it starts to get really expensive to fix.

So i got a 2002 e46, runs well and I'm spending some money on preventative maintenance as I know parts are old. I love the drive, it's got enough power for me for a 325i and it's a manual. If i buy anything else from 2002, might as well jump in a shopping trolley. If i buy anything for 5k (AUD) that's more modern, I won't be getting the driving experience, power, tech etc.

My wife has had at least 5 BMW's over the last 15 years. Never had a problem with even one of them. Now we have a 2024 BMW X3 and love it. But you never have one of these car out of warranty. That goes for any of these German Built vehicles. Unless you’re willing to work on the vehicle yourself.

I wish I'd seen this before buying my 2005 BMW back in 2014. I love driving it...but owning it? Not so much. Oh, BMW means, Bowel Movement Waste.

I had a 335i Xdrive and sold it because I couldn't get it to pass the echeck, without spending a fortune. Loved the car and if I wasn't in an echeck county, I would've kept it, but you can't get a tag without a good echeck, so 🤷🏿‍♂️

I'm happy with my 328i 6-speed manual. I can work on it and I would never take it to a dealer

I have a BMW 550i xDrive. Absolutely love it. The problem is when I have to make a repair. As soon as I can afford it, I'm trading it off. Only rich people can afford these

My 2013 320d x drive still looks and feels like a new car after 143,000 miles and it’s never let me down once, of course I have it serviced every 15000 miles.

tldr bmw's are not for average joes that will take average to no care of the car

its really about the balance. maybe a m340i is an overkill for city drive but a 330i is a perfect balance of power and comfort. If low cost is all scotty cares about, he should get a bicycle instead of a toyota.

I bought a used 2016 bmw f30 n20 with 90k miles on it and I’ve driven it 50k miles and the only issue I ever had was my battery went dead because a mechanic that worked on it before I owned it put the wrong battery in and didn’t even put the vent hose back in or programmed the battery. I do all my routine maintenance myself and it seems to be close in price to maintain as my Honda if your doing the work yourself.

All modern cars are full of "plastic crap". These cars are not that bad, if you can turn a wrench. Do your research on the many resources online. Replace the common parts. OE parts are much cheaper than Genuine BMW. Don't buy the chinese knockoffs and all will be well

Tesla driving experience is much better than BMW and more reliable than either Toyota or BMW. No transmission to fail or engine to blow out. Not to mention no more oil change

I consider myself lucky… I’ve never wanted one of those “status” machines. There are so many on the road, they aren’t exactly “special”. If you pay that much for a car, it should be reliable, without much routine maintenance.

Im sorry to say YOU ARE DEAD WROGN! I commute 30k miles each year on my 2014 BMW F31. Used it for 4 years, and had no problems at all. In fact its the best car I ve ever had. So you shouldnt generalize. So there! 😁

My Mum owns a 2021 BMW M340i xDrive. It has been quite reliable so far and is so nice to drive. We steered clear of a higher performance older BMW just because we didn't want something that would break down every day.

I have to say that I own a 2012 320D (n47 diesel engine) with 150 k km on the clock. Bought it new at the dealer and besides regular maintenance (oil, filters and whatnots) the only thing I changed once was the battery after eight years of usage (yes eight years). I am on the second battery now…
