I have a camera I purchased a year ago and the app is a crappy chinese app that isn't allowed on the play store even. I would love it if I could find a way to get it working. Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh nice, thats the same camera i hacked few years back, it had all kinds of interesting stuff in there, such as the config for chinese vs non-chinese models having a major difference: chinese models send the video stream to chinese servers with no authentication on them

Other things i found on that same model: if you get it to wifi ap mode, it has ssh port open with easy to find passwors

Just modify the kernel append line in the uboot bootloader. That way you get access to a root shell without any password and can change the password to your liking.
