I swear those t its are going to explode at some point.
ОтветитьI've used meal kit services in the past and I am shocked at the plastic use. This poor green onion in plastic bag wtf
ОтветитьI feel that this style of meal service would be better executed by Door Dash or similar grocery service where it's one grocery bag with your shopping list items in it. Tucked in the bag can be recipe with common staples (like soy sauce) used or the option to buy it at regular sizes to use in future recipes like normal.
Ответить$500 for an OF PLEASE
ОтветитьWow! Thank you for the great review video, I was looking in to turn but couldn’t get myself to go through with it.
ОтветитьSometimes I’m not even fully interested in the video topic you make but I still listen because for some reason it’s really nice just listening to you talk while I do other stuff
ОтветитьNot sure about the tint containers, but my family has been saving plastic bags like what the vegetables came in or bread bags or Amazon shipping bags, FREE DOG POOP BAGS can’t remember the last time we bought a roll or them
ОтветитьI like daily harvest bowls try them
ОтветитьI can't take you seriously shoving your entire chest in the thumbnail, didn't think you'd stoop so low of all people
ОтветитьThanks for the review! The amount of plastic packaging would make me not order it. I've never tried a meal service though, it's just not something that ever looked like it would be useful or helpful in our family. Glad it's an option for others though.
ОтветитьGarlic stew ??? I’m intrigued as a garlic head myself
ОтветитьI've had their frozen meals I bought at Publix or Winn Dixie. They had very little plastic and were delicious
ОтветитьThe amount of packaging in all these meal kits it really bad. But I'm even more shocked by your weird recycling policies, had no idea it was that difficult to recycle plastic in the US. In Germany and Finland recyclable waste like plastics, glass, metal etc. get collected separately. You just should make sure that your containers are fairly clean otherwise they don't get recycled.
ОтветитьWe got some purple carrot meals as a birthday gift. I agree, so much plastic and packaging. However the meals are so good and I would recommend to someone trying to become vegan but don't know how to start cooking that.
ОтветитьNow that groceries are so expensive I actually don’t think that it’s very expensive!
ОтветитьHave to disagree on the booklet, I liked it! Not super great for a low waste situation but hey, neither are a ton of tiny little packages items.
Ответитьkinda weird, but since you asked what the hell can be done with all that plastic..
one of my art professors had us do a project recycling plastics. we would layer sheets of plastic packaging between two baking sheets and then iron them. its pretty fun and you can get interesting visuals depending on how much heat you use. they look super messy and misshapen raw, so i cut them up into small pieces and made them into a mosaic of normal dimensions. the project is over but im still collecting plastics to make more. better than throwing them all out 🤷🏻♀️
White people spicy 😅 Such a good way to put it.
ОтветитьI want to see those melons so badly 😢
Ответитьplease post your garlic stew recipe!!!!!
ОтветитьI always loved purple carrot. Never have I ever had a bad experience with them and I love that they send more recipes in the cookbook than you ordered. They thought me how to cook vegan in a different simple and delicious way.
ОтветитьI think purple carrot is a great service for people like myself that are very much novices in the kitchen and live with non-vegans. I subscribed to PC throughout a good part of rona and found it overall very enjoyable, but I have a small two person household and part of what made it so convenient for us was that it allowed us to grocery shop much less frequently (that could be said for any meal kit service though really). One of the big selling points of PC too for me actually was that they include that booklet with all of the recipes for the week in it - having easy access to so many recipes has really expanded my range of vegan cooking and i still use most of them when i want to cook something other than tofu veggies and rice lol. Also helped that the recipes we tried were very delicious, to the point that my non-vegan housemate was genuinely excited each week to try a new recipe because of how good they were.
I do agree though that the packaging is extremely wasteful - that's honestly the main reason why I ended up canceling, especially considering that many other competing meal kit services have a much greater focus on sustainability. All of the veggies I received were good quality as well, though that may also be due to the fact that I live in California and most of the produce was locally sourced 🤷♀️ idk i do think PC has a lot of potential if they would just improve in those areas, but it was interesting to hear your perspective on this as someone with a much different home environment than myself.
You mentioned so much plastic. I'm going to bet you wear disposable face diapers and support illegal invasion of our southern border. Do some research on the impact of disposable masks on our environment and oceans and the mountains of trash left behind by these illegal aliens. Not to mention the torture of monkeys in labs for the toxic clot shots you support and got. It's wrong. You don't live what you preach.
ОтветитьThe ramen being spicy, and not just "white people spicy"...when I lived in Albuquerque NM, they called that "gringo mouth". They put Hatch green chilis on/in everything and the pain for a newcomer was real. But you eventually build up a tolerance and end up wanting those chilis in/on everything. Too bad it's nearly impossible to find decent green chilis where I live now. I had to switch to jalapenos. ;)
P.S. Why would they give you the recipes for the stuff you didn't order? (something you didn't like) Because you can still cook them if you buy your own ingredients and you can see what else you might like to order from them. I kind of collect cookbooks and recipes so would see that as a small positive. But if their recipes are terrible, not so much.
I like this new style of video keeping it fresh lol
Ответитьlemons are delicious lol I’m Mexican and we use hella lemon lime
ОтветитьIn ye olden days you would have all your magazine issues from that year bound into a book so maybe that is what you're supposed to do with the recipe booklets?
ОтветитьI don't care who you are or what your cooking ability/lifestyle is. If you're making enough money to afford a service like this, there is no justification for this kind of waste. Period. I'm so glad Swayze didn't pass over the ridiculous amount of waste in her review.
ОтветитьOh my god, I had such a moment when you said...the booklet, nice little touch....and I was like...nooooo NO NO NO WHYYYY? What a WASTE, every week, vegan company, whyyyy does she like it....but you delivered seconds later, thank you very much :)))
ОтветитьI suggest going for a Brazilian vegan dish: rice + black beans + onion-tomato-lettuce salad + fried plantains + roasted manioc flour. This is real food costing a fraction of what you paid for that. All seasoned with salt, black pepper, garlic, onion and olive oil.
ОтветитьHello fresh uses a lot of paper bags and also they just put the whole fruit or vegetable in without plastic. The only thing I ever saw in plastic was the sauces or toppers.
Ответить30035
ОтветитьIt would prob be cheaper to buy all these ingredients at your local grocery store,& look up these recipes :)
ОтветитьI have done them for three months as I work through a large system migration. And will probably finish August. But here’s my breakdown: too much oil. And I say this as someone that loves olive oil. But a large percentage of their meals are frying with either vegetable or olive oil. Hmmmmm…. So I don’t mind these but not in every single meal and a tbsp. I do get them on time. I suggest; if yoh want to do it do it for 1-2 months; get their cookbooks. Star the ones you like. Redo it in the future.
ОтветитьLove those big juicy fun bags. Yum yum 🤤
ОтветитьMy nonvegan parents have been using purple carrot for over five years and they love it. It helps them eat more vegan food and they find it convenient and tasty. Before starting purple carrot, they used to always order takeout, so now their diet is much better. It's true that the dishes are fancy but that's why they like them. They're not very kid friendly, as my parents have a hard time convincing my little brother to eat the dishes, but at least he's getting exposed to more veggies. The dishes take a long time to cook but my parents think that's worth it for the tasty food. And yeah there's a lot of waste, but my they try to reuse the containers.
ОтветитьI ordered Purple Carrot for about 9 months during start of the pandemic. It was great and introduced me to a lot of yummy vegan recipes. I go nuts for the Chicken Dumplings - which use Oyster Mushrooms - along with other meals. I still have the recipe books and put my favorite recipes in a binder.
But yah, the amount of waste is comical and the primary reason why I stopped. So much plastic.
FYI, their customer service is great.
I wish my meal box kit gave me the recipes for the meals I didn't order. Or gave me access to them online.
ОтветитьUh ma'am -- I am going to be needing that garlic stew recipe pronto!
ОтветитьWow, it blows me away that the produce wasn't pre-washed! With HelloFresh, they still tell you to wash everything, but everything is immaculately clean, and you can get away just fine without washing it if you're in a hurry. For all they money, they send you dirty produce!? That's fucked up😂

I so agree with you! I was so disappointed with it & not kiddo friendly I didn’t feel like. The plastic drove me crazy…
ОтветитьI tried a week of the kits. Basil was rotten, peppers had wrinkled skins, directions are written it seems by people who didn’t cook the meals. You can’t cook wild rice in 30 minutes, also so no way of printing the recipe. Way too much plastic and packaging and the food arrive warm. It’s expensive for what you get. Canceled.
ОтветитьWow! This was brutal and imo unfair. I’ve used at least 6 different meal subscription services. I didn’t care at all for Hungry Root and really love Purple Carrot. I share your concern about the plastic but the meals are fresh and delicious. Maybe snarky is your schtick but this unfortunately as a first introduction to your content, I’ll just pass on watching more videos.
ОтветитьJust came across your video. I was a subscriber for a year. The customer service sucked. This company is not sustainable in its packaging. Lots of plastic. A lot of my vegetables went bad after a day or too. On top of that my delivery came every week late around 9pm. I never got a msg letting me know my delivery would be late. I agree with you regarding the flavors & serving size. Thank you 🙏🏾 for your review
ОтветитьOh my God you're so attractive.
ОтветитьOrders Korean food and then complains about the amount of garlic 🤨
ОтветитьMy wife and I spend about $125 on average a week in groceries (I'm vegan; she's not, but she eats most meals vegan with me). This covers ALL meals, including breakfasts and snacks, so I can't imagine spending over $100 just on 3 days' worth of meals! I do love their frozen meal that has meatballs in it, but I have yet to find a meal delivery service that actually saves any money. Thanks for reminding me about bulgar wheat! I used to eat is all the time and use it in chili as ground beef replacement. I also made my own veggie sausage with it. I need to get back into it again!
"White people spicy" 🤣🤣🤣
Sweet 🔥🔥
